Due to actions by my ex wife, CPS wanted to talk to my daughter, the long story short is my ex wife’s boyfriend sexually abused by daughter and my ex wife tried to cover it up.
I am going to say, you had to have real calm patience in this situation because sincerely o think as soon as I leaned about this both her and the boyfriend would end up with bullet holes in their heads

It's not happening. The result is not false. The only way it can be false is if they mixed samples.
So no chance shebtouched the scale and picked her nose afterwards? She was 100% intentionally exposed to coke?

Every kid deserves a parent but not every parent deserves a kid. I hope Nick and Kayla get slapped with a brick.

Just got caught up on this shitshow... Why the fuck was any of this necessary? The hole this man dug for himself, and his uncaring attitude about it all, the shallow pointless ego. What can he prove anymore?

Even on the off chance this all ends up being fake by some kind of dark magic, it's still all so absurd, just the situation he already created for himself, has been curating for years now.
That he is completely neglecting his family, ruining it even, his children cast to the side before he even ensured they can properly stand on their own feet and not be directly affected by his selfish self-immolation.
Chasing some bullshit transient high until his body further deteriorates from all of this degeneracy...
Can't he just stop, look around, realize it's really bad enough already?

But of course not. It will probably just get worse.

Is it possible it could have stayed since January? Does any cocaine test go back that far?
I used to run a workplace drug testing program, so I'm actually in a good position to answer this question... Typically, the sample collector will take about an inch and a half of head hair from closest to the scalp, which will give you more or less a three month record of prior drug use. The longer the segment of hair that gets tested, the farther back the test can detect usage.

I had a few cases of people who had shaved their head, in which case we would collect body hair for the sample, which can provide a record of up to a year depending on the person and how fast their body hair grows. Now in the case of a CPS investigation, they'll test the entire segment of hair that's collected from a kid regardless of length, so they can have as complete a picture as possible of drug exposure.

I have a friend whose ex-wife let their three year old get into her meth stash, and they tested the entire sample they collected from him (which tragically turned up extremely positive, but got my friend full custody of his son because of that fact). So to answer your question, yes, a hair test will go back quite some time if the hair sample is long enough. Every inch and a half is three months, so all you need is a six inch sample to get a year long record of drug exposure.

You'd have to do it pretty close in proximity to the drug test though. If he shaved it for the first time a couple days before I would buy that argument for sure, it's just like somebody smuggling in clean urine for a test. Clear intent to evade the test.
This is why if you plan to do this for the purposes of avoiding tests, you start with that short haircut. A sudden change in patterns of behavior to evade an upcoming drug test is inherently suspicious. (And less than useless if you already have a positive one and then cut your hair and then get your second test.)
I don't know if they're going to pretrial drug test him unless it's by the defense to help build his case. They have substantial evidence of the crimes he was charged with independent of any drug test results and I don't think any of them depend on actually using the substance itself.
It would be a good idea, that is, if the dumb fuck would actually stop taking drugs and come to court with a bunch of negative results. At the very least, it would earn him Good Boy Points at sentencing.

With the kid testing positive, though, there may not be a remotely good deal on the table because they've got him dead to rights.

Doesn't he realize how fucking guilty that makes him look in the court of public opinion? He can claim that doesn't matter to him, but losing his audience would be a major narcissistic injury for him and that's a likely outcome if all his procedural wrangling fails (which it probably will) and everything comes out anyway.
You have to understand two things about Nick:
  1. He is a RAGING narcissist, as several people have outlined in his main thread. Even if he understood the consequences of his words, it doesn't matter - he will NOT ever admit wrongdoing, for doing so would imply that he is not the platonic ideal of perfection.
  2. The repeated alcohol and coke benders have most likely fried his brain and dulled any sense of critical thinking he might have once had.
The thing is, on some level, deep down, he does know how fucked he is - but his brain cannot accept that. So here he is, the angel dust snorting lawyer, earning his gold medal in the Mental Gymnastics Championship 2024. Look upon his works, ye Kiwis, and despair.

The metabolites are determined by nanogram per milligram of human hair sample. They do specific lengths instead of whole hair strands because the more hair, the smaller the ng/mg sample is, and there are cutoffs. If you take too much, you will get a false negative. There's nothing you can do to get a false positive. Only by ingesting cocaine does your hair get the metabolites.
Well, there is still the chance that one of the adults tried to switch his hair with the daughter's - did all four adults test positive for cocaine?

At least Kayla and Nick refused to be tested.
You can be held in contempt if you cut your hair while under a judges order not to.
He isn't. He paid $5K for the privilege of not having to be drug tested, since he intends to keep doing drugs.

The low sensitivity implies it has a decent number of false positives, but there's never a false negative. I highly doubt there are any false positives with readings at these levels though.

100% specificity is really pretty incredible.
