Ew, I'm getting flashbacks to the time my mom took out a picturebook from the library to draw clothes and obscuring objects over depictions of genitalia, both adult and kids. It was supposed to talk about "What if everyone just stopped wearing clothes? It's not normal to strip in public, keep it private and to the bath," but it seemed to kinda revel in showing full-frontal child nudity. This was in the late-90s/early-2000s.

Many of these books now simply refer to "middle parts" instead of "private parts," supposedly because "any part CAN be private if you want it to" but never saying "these parts are private absolutely regardless of how you personally feel about them or who you want to look at or touch them, if you want someone to touch or look at them, that's an inappropriate urge and you shouldn't do that."

"Middle parts" is the most insane example yet of how in their degeneracy they keep making it more and more difficult for people to actually speak frankly when needed. It's more euphemism than a Victorian parlor among these wokies.

I wouldn't say it alone is a massive red flag so much as not understanding that some things just aren't okay to do in public. If the kid's parents ignored it and didn't tell the kid to stop the second they see the kid doing it, that's a red flag. For the kid, they've just found a thing that's really fun to do but don't (or rather shouldn't) understand anything beyond that.

One thing I remember being the sort of go-to way to explain this to kids was simply imagine you're wearing a swimsuit and don't let anyone touch a part of your body that your swimsuit covers. Considering how much of a colossal flop the movie was - along with everything else Disney put out last year - this is an... interesting move. Disney lost a billion dollars in theater last year and they just keep doubling down. Their Star Wars shows bomb. Doctor Who is at its lowest viewership in more than half a century. Snow White had to essentially scrapped and remade because of how poorly test screenings went. Disney used to be an absolute titan of the entertainment industry.

But seriously, can we go back to calling them "private parts"? Kids don't need to know the anatomical names of everything or how they function.

You can and often should do both. The theory is that predators often use euphemisms that make kids unaware of the gravity of what's happening. "This is just a cuddle with our middle parts" "No, my mom taught me that this is my penis, you're molesting me because my penis is my private part!" It also makes it easier for them to report what happened to someone who can do something. The difference between, "He hugged me too hard and I didn't like it, but if he hugs nicer next time, that's fine" and, "He hugged me so hard that I felt his penis and he touched my butt" is noticeable for a kid and they need the words to describe that.

"This is your vagina. If someone calls it your pussy, they're trying to trick you into letting them hurt you." That sort of thing is crucial for them to know. Don't necessarily literally quote me, it all depends on the kid individually and their age and development. And sure, a doctor can molest you while using clinical language too, but this is at least a starting point.

I don't think the problem is him not knowing the word "penis". I'm not a parent, but it seems weird that the father didn't ask the kid to clarify what he meant by "touching his gummies". Kids say weird shit all the time, but a kid consistently talking about someone "touching his gummies" seems like it would elicit some curiosity at the very least. On top of that, a kid behaving strangely and says someone touched something, that should ring alarm bells. If a child is upset about someone touching something, you need them to clarify what's being touched and who's touching it. It could be something as innocent as another kid playing with their toys or it could be something far more serious.
