Is this outbreak of pedophiles on Roblox a relatively new thing or is it just the increased scale and coverage of the game? It seems like this problem was nonexistent 10 years ago when the platform was just as full of kids.
I was there 10 years ago, I distinctly remember rumors of pedophiles on the platform even then.

It's been going on for years under different terms. In old school Roblox people used the term "OD'ers" (online daters) to group all of these pests and emo teens, and generally people would ridicule them for engaging in online dating. You would see them a lot in games like Town of Robloxia, you just run them over with your car and laugh at them. The introduction of Discord, the increasing size of Roblox as a platform, and the more sophisticated tactics that pedophiles now use have certainly increased the scale of the problem though. Roblox moderation was already ill equipped to deal with the problem even back then, any notion that Roblox gives two shits about moderating their platform in the modern day is just a fantasy. At this point it's just a waiting game to see how much more the straw can bend before it finally snaps and drops the hammer on the company.

Could you do anything with Town of Robloxia other than online date or troll child predators?
My brother used to play all the time so I'll tell you what he used to like to do from what I recall, he used to role-play having a family with children and relationships with other children online, nothing serious of course because back then when the game was popular things like discord were not readily available for children to access immediately, he liked playing the game very much, espically since you could just essentially play house but in roblox, sorry for the double post.
Below this is the thumbnail for the game, notice how you can choose what age you are and notice how the parents look like teenagers. Completely unmoderated game back then as well btw.
I used to play that game as the town's home invader by getting access to their house and threatening them into doing increasingly bizarre and ridiculous tasks.

Maybe I just dodged this issue completely because even as a kid I thought the ODers were cringe and avoided them, but as far as I could tell back then they were at least (mostly) real spergy and terminally horny teens. Generally though, old Roblox simply didn't have the modern issue of an older generation that grew up with the site and dominated its upper echelons.

It kinda depended on where you were looking, games like The Complex were mostly dominated by smaller groups of the sperg teens you mentioned and were prime trolling grounds. I think one of the big differences between now and then was the absence of condo games (at least as far as I was aware) where a lot of the current debauchery takes place. They also didn't have the modern issue of the sheer volume of players playing these shitty games back then. I remember Town of Robloxia only having like 400-500 players when I started Roblox, now you've got more than 3x the people currently browsing this forum playing whatever the fuck this is under the top trending section with virtually no moderation.

Jesus fucking Christ, I decided to adventure into roblox to see how bad it was. I tried a few classic games like the natural disaster survival one, Zeplins, and a few others. Within 5 minutes I was exposed to someone by the name of 'Beat' who's player model was a furry with big tits who was spamming dance emotes and talking to other player who were obviously children.
The new player models and content they allow in general are not age appropriate at all even without the big tit furries. Some games now have targeted pop ups on the screen to get children to give them their parents money, dying to water you'll get a pop up prompting you to buy water immunity. This is so much worse than when I checked in on it 2 years ago what the fuck. I eventually tried the Aeronautica game even and ironically it was the only game not filled with any microtransactions or pedophiles since no one has playermodels.
I'm pretty sure if law enforcement spent a few days operating some sort of sting in this game they'd just be constantly arresting a never ending horde of pedophiles. Roblox is filled with pedophiles and ran by people who either are or profit off of pedophiles, fuck them all.

You know it occured to me that I rarely see avatars this bad in a game is because I'm in games that are either low in player count or filled with other fellow Roblox boomers. It's nice being in a bubble like this.

Yesterday the team released a official timeline for events
And today, Northern Wings (Discord owner and lead dev) released a official apology and announced he was stepping down as discord owner and switching over to a advisory role in development of the game.
He followed this up with this video.

There has to be a market for some sort of non governmental age verification company out there.
Something where you give them your ID and you tie it to how ever many accounts you want and people can cross reference but only get the bare minimum.
Like fully customizable, maybe you only care if it's "this person is over 18" or "this person resides in America"
Instead of giving discord/twitter/what ever your full information for verification they do it for you and relay the information on your behalf but keep it secure.

What games? Anytime I hop back on for nostalgia all the games I enjoyed are dead and unplayable. It hurts seeing nearly every game I liked completely broken by updates.
Natural Disaster Survival is filled with furry and other gross avatars. It seems that game had a popularity boost from somewhere though.

Ya I saw models like these being used too everywhere too. I don't know how this shit is allowed to pass.
The most popular game I'm in is Phantom Forces and Arsenal, but those don't count because you don't show up your avatar in either games.
Eclipsis is a game I've stuck with for a while, along with Tower Blitz/Tower Battles or other Tower Defense games that isn't Tower Defense Simulator. Oh and Flood Escape 2 for a major one. I'm not going to deny you won't ever see degenerate avatars, but the skill level for the game is relatively higher that it can filter a lot of children out of playing the game, thus you'd find fewer pedophiles, unless you go on the game's discord.
Occasionally I play some one off games or show cases. I'd be happy to share some more games, just give me time, because I just realized I never favorites any of these games, so I gotta go off of memory.
