Yes, but it is not as graphic as what can be found on Youtube or the larger internet. And also those were a handful of scenes in some media, if you wanted to have more of that you either watched that scene on repeat or were (un)lucky enough to have another movie/show with that type of content, with the internet you are fed more of those scenes the more you watch them, it's literally an almost involuntary feedback loop that kids get trapped into, and one that contains an unlimited amount of new content
This "The world is ending zomg" mentality is stupid. Since the time of Christopher Columbus people have thought the world was about to end. The 1950s-1990s were an unusually peaceful and prosperous period of history, and the time we're in now is what life was typically like in previous eras. We have climate change, which is a really big issue, but in the past we've also had really bad weather events like the dust bowl and mini ice ages. The elites may be gauging prices and making it impossible to rent an apartment without 2 side hustles and a roommate, but that's what life has always been like if you're not ultra-privileged, and at least now you have media consoomption to look forward to even if you're super poor. It may be impossible to say what you want without getting cancelled or banned for it, but that's always been the case except for a few years in the 90s and 2000s, and at least the state isn't forcing you to practice a religion against your will. Every generation has its challenges, and it's almost laughable that zoomers' biggest challenges are screen addiction, gooning, and a short lockdown rather than having to live in the Tube and having no steady employment or education because your city is being attacked.
Zoomers do the "next Chris Chan" thing because they see the CWCki pages about trolls and the CWC video essays and think it's a way to become famous.

You just said they do try and stop it but it's an impossible task. Every day new stuff is made and shared on an industrial scale. CSAM isn't just 1 guy in his basement reuploading this stuff. It's child trafficking, international sex tourists taking pictures, kids with ipads meeting strange men on the internet. There are thousands of images and videos made every single day and the people making them are using ways to stay hidden. Either no one knows a discord or telegram channel exists sharing this or the link is spread out through youtube videos so it's hard for automation to place it together. A link to huggywuggy.com sending you to a password screen and an unlisted youtube video giving you the password isn't going to trigger any automated system. The password will be in the background hard to notice and then when put together you get all the sick stuff on a privately hosted web server in a lawless country.

I remember when the internet was starting and there was this fearmongering among adults about all the porn there. In reality there was next to zero because even with a 56k modem loading pics took forever, and video? what's that?. In reality what little there was was very mild, you saw way worse on HBO, most porn sites were just an online storefront to buy porn mags and videos, and you needed a credit card so good luck. Back then if you wanted to see boobs your best chance was some PG-13 movie.

Some are actual porn, mostly drawn porn, but all of it is softcore. They are cropped in a way where you can fully see the exposed breasts.

I agree that passive media doesn't have much effect on kids. I've never bought into the "violent video games makes kids violent" narrative when it was Jack Thompson saying that for attention in the 90s, and I don't believe it now. However, the Internet, and the iPhone/'cord bastardized version of the Internet that nihilist burnout zoomyzooms use is a completely different ballgame. They aren't just passively engaging in violent media. They are bunkering themselves in Discord servers spending all their free time engaging in extremely cringe gooning seshes to violence, CP, zoosadism and any other gross shit you can think of. It goes from just shitposting about it, to ERP. From ERP, to actively seeking out targets that are vulnerable so they can exploit them for their deranged amusement.
