Oh good point. It might. I'm much more familiar with adult Hospice, although I'd be surprised if they'd include shunt surgery in pediatric Hospice either. Seems a bit too treatment-y.

Also, would any doctor even do that surgery at this point?

ETA: @Trombonista afaik it's a good thing - antibiotics can screw with your gut and probiotics can help fix it up. But I wouldn't trust Robyn not to fuck it up somehow.

Wait, I am confused. Robyn said she was convinced that it was a bladder infection but now it was so severe that the doctors had to prescribe antibiotics. She said she would have liked to have taken less extreme measures first but those less extreme measures are all things Robyn could have done - extra hydration, cranberry juice, probiotics, more vitamin C. If she was so convinced it was a bladder infection, why didn't she just go ahead and give Luna those "treatments"?

Pediatric hospice patients can receive what's called concurrent care. From the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization: "Concurrent care is for all children with a life-limiting diagnosis to continue to receive curative or life-prolonging treatment along with hospice care, avoiding the impossible choice between life-prolonging and hospice care." Source.

Notably, pediatric hospice apparently does still require a six-month prognosis (like it does with adults). Make of that what you wish.

What people should do is take your full course of antibiotics, then eat prebiotics, followed by eating probiotics.

Step 1: Kill the infection with antibiotics

Step 2: Make sure your diet consists of nutrients for the biotics in step 3

Step 3: Consume probiotics
