The text messages were in 2017. Twitch didn't do anything until 2020. Twitch knew in 2020 that Dr. Disrespect didn't meet the minor for sex at Twitchcon in 2017. Otherwise Dr. Disrespect would be in jail.

Twitch didn't stop something bad from happening. Nothing happened without their intervention. They were either looking for an excuse to terminate the contract 3 years after the fact. Or the "minor" contacted Twitch 3 years later to tell them what happened.

Timing is definitely weird and I'm still trying to figure out why Twitch paid Doc the full value of his contract if he violated their terms. It would seem to me that if they had proof of him doing anything that broke his contract (or the law) while using their platform they would have every right to not honor his contract. If Doc sued, Twitch's lawyers would have these text logs on deck to prove a breach of whatever terms or morality clause may have been in the contract.

Twitch's initial statement about the ban in 2020 said Doc "acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service". It doesn't say he violated his contract. Maybe that doesn't mean anything, I'm just trying to understand why they'd pay him. Seems pretty clear that an NDA designed to protect both parties was drafted and that it is now null and void because of two former employees spilling the beans. It'll be interesting to see what Doc does after this (assuming he doesn't either retire or do a flip). He may be entitled to sue not just Twitch but both of the guys who came forward with the story.

1. This bit of gossip is OLD. Several years old. He's already apologized for it and it's even been resolved in court. His wife stayed.

2. It wasn't illegal. He wasn't charged and it sounds like a nothingburger. They must not be that young or it would've been brought with charges. It wasn't. Is it still inappropriate (at best) for a grown man to message a minor on any platform? Absolutely. Should he be shunned and exiled for it? No.

3. I'm not going to get into pedophilia vs ephebophilia but they are 2 different things. 17 year olds are a lot different than 13 year olds and behave differently online. Don't throw words around that are much worse simply because you don't like the guy. A 35 yo being attracted to a 17 yo is much different than a 35yo being attracted to a 13 yo.

4. We've known he disrespected his marriage for years at this point. We all know it's a shit thing to do. Does it really matter if the girl he was flirting with was 17 vs 25? Did you guys really assume this was a woman close to his age he was cheating with? I'd assumed it was some (or multiple) egirls. This shouldn't be a shocker.

5. There's 0 other accusations of him behaving this way. A one off does not constitute being called a "pedophile". Words have meaning and diluting them only services the people who actually are peeds.
