Whispers probably went so wild twitch looked into other streamers after this and had to shut down the entire feature.

It still exists, I imagine popular people actually get real whispers; all I get are spam bots in mine.Whispers probably went so wild twitch looked into other streamers after this and had to shut down the entire feature.
Damn I thought I read it shut down.It still exists, I imagine popular people actually get real whispers; all I get are spam bots in mine.
I'm having a really strong hallucination if they did.Damn I thought I read it shut down.
I didn't know it was illegal for adults to message each other. He shouldn't have been texting fans.
No, people heard about it pre-internet, it just wasn't considered as big of a deal as it is now. We're in a completely different cultural space now. This shit was happening pre-internet just as much if not more, you just didn't hear about it because there was no paper trail. If anything social media had reduced how much this happens because people have to think twice about doing things in an age where someone can pull a phone out in seconds and record proof or post screenshots of a conversation.
Timing is definitely weird and I'm still trying to figure out why Twitch paid Doc the full value of his contract if he violated their terms. It would seem to me that if they had proof of him doing anything that broke his contract (or the law) while using their platform they would have every right to not honor his contract. If Doc sued, Twitch's lawyers would have these text logs on deck to prove a breach of whatever terms or morality clause may have been in the contract.Other than not having the logs for the full context, it is kind of odd for all this to suddenly pop off. Twitch sat on this for (over) three years and allegedly some ex-staff aired this with a "dude trust me bro" all of sudden? Sounds like that dude has beef with Doc or there is something else with the alleged ex-staff member.
Christ no. I'm just saying there's a difference between making inappropriate comments in a conversation involving a minor versus making actual sexual advances to a minor. Neither one is good, but one is an actual crime. For fucks sake, man, don't be pulling out the Ephebophilia card. I don't think it needs to be stated that him messaging a minor is 100% dangerous no matter the context.
Indeed. That's exactly why I hate the pedantic argument of "b-but this isn't illegal!!!"I mean…do you ever wonder why ppl act like this is court? It’s like when Armie Hammer’s sexts came out and some people rushed to defend his cannibalism fetish because “it was just a fantasy between two consenting adults.”
Well, I can still think it’s a disgusting act of a deviant that I don’t want to see in movies anymore. In the past we rightly shamed people who acted unacceptably out of society.
And what Dr. Disrespect did is worse than that. There is 0 excuse for a dude in his 30’s to be sending any casual chat messages to a teenager, much less ones that “veer into the inappropriate.” I don’t care if he skirted the letter of the law just enough.
Those people didn't know you were messaging a minor. Also, in that text, he probably should have put something along the lines of "I didn't know her age" so none of this is looking good at all.I'm no fucking predator or pedophile. Are you kidding me? Anyone that truely knows me
IF the minor really existed. How on earth could a teenage.... (15 year old?) girl resist commenting that Dr. Disrespect hit her up too in one of these conversations. Probably on a reddit thread.Going by reddit, the cheating on his wife scandal also happened in 2017.

And going by Google search results, it all came out in December of 2017.
And Twitch Con 2017 was in late October.
I think the guys smart enough (if he's "innocent") to realize that the machines revved up and there's no choice other than to take it on the chin. "I didn't know" is the bog standard defense for ANYONE in this situation and it's still the adults responsibility to make sure, and until we know for certain, there's no reason to be convinced. What I don't understand is if he didn't know her age why doesn't he just mention that? I get the feeling he knew
