Tim Buckley is about the definition of mid-tier internet creative, wanting to be as big as Penny Arcade by copying everything they did but never really amounting to much. Occasionally he did some dumb things, but mostly he's just kept plugging away with his fairly bland content, so I guess that's something.
That said, he already
did an animated series, and...well, the less said about that, the better.

The thing is, those
aren't cowboy fantasy orcs. If you look at the picture, they're very clearly
Hispanic-coded orcs, down to the fat abuelita in the background. If I didn't know any better, I'd think whichever artist WotC hired for this was making a very racist picture disguised with appeals to DEI initiatives. "No, no, it's not stereotypical that they're wearing sombreros and ponchos and eating tacos, it's diverse!"
Honestly, it's true that you can do whatever you want with your setting, and if you want your orcs to go around calling humans gringos, that's on you. But there is also a standard for what orcs are going back to Tolkien, similar concepts existing in mythology since the dawn of time, and it's that standard that people are expecting and build off of for most of their games. When you put out a new sourcebook that everyone is going to be using as their reference, and you put such low-quality art in there that's far from the traditional depictions and
clearly pandering to non-existent players (like Hispanic orcs, or faggot dwarves baking muffins for each other, another image that was released), that just makes D&D look retarded and lame. That doesn't inspire people to want to use your system to roleplay an adventure, it turns them away.
WotC needs people to buy these new books, yet they just couldn't help but include shitty DEI art in there. Enjoy this being the worst-selling edition since...I dunno, 4e?
