Not at all, black powder weapons don't even legally count as firearms.
Which is an interesting fact when you first hear it, but when you see what it actually covers, it seems really odd the Government would just ignore it.

And on that note I think Brazil has the worst flag of any major country.

Own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.

Wildly off topic, but I would appreciate some help. Years ago Josh did a stream where he read a bit from an ebook called What if Trayvon Martin Had Lived. Basically, Trayvon gets fucked in the ass by all his male relatives. Fucking hysterical. The book has been blasted off Amazon and google is no help. If you all happen to have the stream or maybe even the book somewhere, that would be awesome.

I did some theory crafting that if I were a burger I'd just scale up a Dreyse needlefire action to something absurd like 120mm and then just made cardboard "paper cartridges" loaded with casted brass AP rounds and mount it on a surplus armored car or apc/ifv.

Perfectly legally unregulated, AND there already are other breechloading civil war cannons so there's precedent too!

But alas I don't get to enjoy Ameriburger freedoms :(

You should seriously consider it. Minus tool (one-time) costs, you'll start saving money on any round that costs more than about 0.65$/rd.
Plus you'll be able to... modify... any bullets you seat into your cartridges. Legally and Safely of course! Plenty of stories about vacuum cleaners exploding when they suck up a spill of smokeless powder.


On the topic of guns- L4 plates are rated for plain-jane ammunition. Rounds with cores in them are normally considered 'anti-materiel', and IIRC you're not supposed to use them on infantry.
green-tip .223 is one of the few rounds you can purchase pre-made with armor piercing properties. it won't get through level 4 plates.
green-tip .308 cannot be purchased readily. It can easily punch through level 4 plates. Though typically .308 is black-tip if it's AP... it means the same thing.
also 50 BMG is insane for l4 plates you madman. shoot one before you buy.

You don't use AP on infantry because it is less effective, the degree to which it is true is debatable. In theory a AP is more likely to penetrate without imparting as much energy on the target.

Green vs black tip is what the military spec is for the round is Green is "ball" and while it can penetrate level 2 plates mostly due to velocity, black is armor penetrating. Practically its what the core is, 25% steel for Green, tungsten (or titanium as jewsh calls it) for black.

Guns like any result of engineering are a balancing act of a bunch of factors, pare out the factors that are just LARPing and make a decision based off that, and if your caliber of choice is .50 bmg or .50 beowulf you did the first step wrong, because you aren't trying to take down biplanes.
