Elliot Page / Ellen Page - Former actress, starred in Juno. Turned into a pooner and divorced her wife because being a lesbian was not boosting her career anymore. Receives a daily dose of asspatting from Hollywood. Likes to show off her "male" body using fake abdominals.

New Rolling Stone report from a bunch of whiny Umbrella Academy writers. Sounds like the showrunner could have been a better boss but was cleared of anything really bad.

Most importantly, he said what everyone thought.

I assume this had just as much to do with the show ending as the low viewership did.
See? That's what I was refering too since the beginning.

I could believe that this guy got stressed not because of Ellen transitioning, but even if he got stressed because of rewriting the show, the fact is still the same. She made things more stressful and more complicated than it needed it to be because of how she wanted to tell her sob story about transitioning, and that ended up affecting the show in more ways than once. Who knows how many sidestories she derailed because she decided that her transition was the most important plot point of the show.

So yeah, the guy basically really did confirmed that Ellen ruined the show.

I wondered why they picked the most pooner yet still russian name possible - so it was an act of passive aggression! Ellen couldn't pull off the name Ivan anyway.

Imagine if they'd renamed her character "Vlad"

Bonus:
Can you believe that we ever thought that this wasn't a man named Elliot?

They should have hired back whichever writers did Season One, it took a huge nosedive in S2 and S3.

And what's hilarious about the transing of Ellen's character is they hired her for S1, she was the draw so iirc she got a lot of pull over storylines and wardrobe, her character Vanya has a relationship with a dude (albeit with as much chemistry as you ever see with her and another human, which is to say, none), then she had them write Vanya as gay for S2, THEN they have S3 in which she's like 'being with a gay woman made me realise I'm a real d00d', like there's no separation at all at this point between the character and Page (which I guess is expected when you've told Hollywood that wearing a female costume will genocide you), she just seems to see it like her own reality show.

She is a bland narcissist who lives through her characters, like most big-name actors.

I've said before how funny it is - she's just been forced to abandon her girlfriend and girlfriend's son in 1963, been tortured by the FBI, gone on the run as a fugitive under suspicion of assassinating JFK, nearly been killed by an army of time agents, narrowly averted the apocalypse and arrived in an alternate reality where she doesn't exist and had to fight a bizarro universe set of adopted siblings, including her own dead brother who's now alive and doesn't know her - over the course of basically one day. Her first step is to go get a haircut and tell everyone she's Viktor, while they're trying to face down bizarro siblings, get their time travel suitcase and camp out in a hotel.

Because she came out so late into the production of Season 3, there's only a couple of token scenes that address it - she gets a haircut and tells everyone she's Viktor now, and they basically all go "oh ok no worries". I'm interested to see if now she's Viktor (and the plot is now they're in yet another alternate universe where they don't have superpowers, after their sister betrayed them and they all nearly died after destroying the universe) they'll just get on with it, or because Ellen's had more time to provide "creative input" this season there'll be a bunch of scenes exploring her trans identity.

There's a lot of stupid things about Ellen transing out in Umbrella Academy, but the two that get me the most are:

1) They missed a golden opportunity to highlight the transition by having the poster be her in the female uniform on one side (because her past is as a woman) and then her ultra-masc jeans and huge boots on the other. But you know, telling Ellen to put on a skirt for a role that you are paying her to play is LITERALLY killing her and she'll derail the shoot by slamming her head into the wall.

2) Vanya is a fucking male nickname in Russia.

I couldn't watch S3 of TUA because the synopsis was stupid enough for me to call it quits on Episode 2, but I liked the first season a lot and the second season decently. And I will say that Ellen making the whole production about her to the point of kneecapping the director is very in-character, considering all Vanya does is scream and cry and literally kills people with her temper tantrums when things aren't going her way.

Modern troon ideology requires destroying the past or rewriting it. Ellen never existed, "Elliot" was always a man, and you must retroactively consider "him" as such even before "he" pooned out.

the relevant bits from the article (archive):
The HR complaint also included text messages from Blackman in which he complained about Elliot Page‘s interest in having his character transition on the show, a move that Page once praised Blackman for championing.

“Elliot wants to come out as trans on the show. As Ivan. Oh my fucking God. Kill me now,” the text messages from Blackman read. But the showrunner claimed the comments were regarding “his stress level related to this and other responsibilities of managing a show and a large team.”

According to sources who spoke to RS, Blackman was known for making transphobic, homophobic, and misogynistic comments at work. An internal investigation conducted by Universal Content Productions, the production company behind The Umbrella Academy, also found that “it was more likely than not that Steve made inappropriate and unprofessional remarks” about staffers and “used foul or derogatory language.”

Someone once pointed out one reason that kids from upper-middle-class liberal backgrounds may troon out so much is that it gives them control over adults for the first time in their lives. Between school and extracurriculars, their lives are planned down to the minute to maximize college admission potential. When they go trans they get the ability to command teachers and professionals, compelling their speech under pain of ending their careers.

In the same way, Ellen transing probably gave her a level of control she never had before. She can change and veto storylines on a whim and showrunners have to oblige. They have to praise her in public even as she forces them to drive the production into a ditch. She talked before about feeling demeaned and exploited in the entertainment biz so it's a way for her to turn the tables on them.
