The individual in question is one Laura Silsby, former director of The New Life Children's Refuge. She was caught trying to steal 33 children from the country, most of whom were not even orphans and had families.

Hillary has a LONG history of interest in Ms. Silsby. Wikileak emails dating back till at least 2001 have been found in her archives discussing Laura's NGO. Laura had claimed she planned to build an orphanage in the Dominican Republic, but authorities in the country said she never submitted an application for this purpose. They instead located to Haiti.

I hate that my mind could come up with this, but the image seems to be of something hard and prickly surrounded by various soft things it can't help but penetrate.

This is all sketchy as fuck, but the modern art links are tenuous at best - the whole point of modern art is to out-edgelord the next guy*. All this definitively shows is that the US elite hangs out with some really cringeworthy attention whores. Note I said definitively - I don't refute the prospect that at least some (if not most/all) of these people are most definitely within the 'not to be left unaccompanied with children or animals' bracket of society.

If you guys really want to get worked up about modern art, check out Jon Beinart or the Chapman Brothers. Their work will trigger your inner puritan something fierce, I promise you.


*Source - was a tech support guy at an art school. There are depressingly few art students out there who want to make things that are pleasing to look at for the sake of it - they all have to have a 'manifesto' or 'challenging agenda' - this is something that's actively encouraged by art tutors, too: they're actively marked down if there's not some kind of statement to be made with their work.

I think you're right that a lot of artists seem to have to go full edgelord in order to attract attention to their work, but art buying is a different thing entirely.
The art you choose to exhibit in your own house says a lot about you as a person. If he likes it for the aesthetic, then that's fucked. If he likes it for it's implied message, then that's also pretty fucked given the context and what he does for a living. I'm neither an expert nor a complete uncultured philistine, and I cant see any kinds of mental gymnastics that could justify hanging that kind of art on your walls, unless you are just an unsavory, inflammatory prick or it excites some kind of emotional response out of you. He isn't an art student looking for a grade. He is choosing to present this imagery to the world as an extension of himself.

100% this, and the guy that bought that stuff is deeply fucking weird. I can only hope he's being just as edgetastic as the artists, and that it's not indicative of the things this thread would suggest, as the picture that's being painted here (if you'll pardon the pun) is remarkably dark and horrifying.
