Get into 3 Gun.
No point having a firearm if you don't know how to use it properly, and static shooting at paper targets isn't enough.
3 Gun teaches the sort of fire and move, switching quickly and comfortably between different platforms, and fast target aquisition and reloading you want to be proficient in.
You don't have to get to competition level where you can beat the pros but its great for meeting contacts in the gun world and way better practice than just plinking at targets.

Your best bet though, apart from good relations with neighbors who can call in the cavalry, is early warning. You don't want to find yourself in a siege fight and you wont be in one anyway.
These people will do hit and run attacks, you want early warning of them crossing your property line so you can grab your gear and get out and either avoid them or be in a position to counter-ambush them.
Ideally have a decoy trailer that looks like your home and have your real abode tucked away and preferably concealed from immediate view.
A bug out vehicle isn't a bad idea either.

Obviously you can thought-game a scenario as extreme as you like, and that brings in things like traffic obstructions, planned kill boxes, stuff like pre prepared and positioned tannerite shrapnel mines disguised as flower planters or even full on IED anti personnel mines etc, but your most likely scenario is a couple of weirdo troons rolling up and trying to hose down your house before fleeing.
Ideally you want enough warning of them coming to grab your kit and get out.

you can rewire a forester typa photo-trap to do many other things besides taking a photo or getting lights on, russians have a knack to install these and make them double as alarms in private facilities n offices

ukrainians also used them in recent conflict by wiring them via sim/circuit routers to ping troop movement so i believe the the thing has many other nefarious uses
 
how much of a concern would forest fires be?
It seems like on paper it'd be relatively easy to start one near compound null and get away scott free.

Here's the truth, as much as some may believe otherwise: if a person wants to kill you, there is no way to stop them unless you kill or disable them first. Human beings are the most effective murder machines on Earth. Unless you live in a fantasy Fallout bunker, there is no way to be 100% safe from human beings.

My concern is that paranoia will drive you to accidentally shoot someone innocent. A life of fear is not worth living.

You should have a hidden entrance to your *true* home, which should be a bomb-shelter style 20-feet-underground concrete bunker a la "10 Cloverfield Lane," with multiple emergency exits and a lengthy tunnel network akin to a maze, within which you can trap and cut off any assailants to be arrested or, um, "neutralized" at your leisure

I've said this in a different thread but I'll put it forward here, just utilize KOCOA on your land and come up with a strategy of defense/deterrence from there.

It stands for
Key terrain • Obstacles • Cover and concealment • Observation points • Avenues of Approach/Retreat
Basically, have a map of where you are going to live, the placement of your house, the terrain and features around it, and elevation markers of the area on your land and slightly surrounding it. Some examples I can think of for peacetime home security against bad actors would be:

1. Motion detection on all likely avenues of approach from your land (which might extend far away) to your house. Roads, walkways, paths, etc. Anyway a person can will likely approach your house works. If you wanted to be really safe, look at the land with a elevation map and see canalizing terrain that someone might pass through to avoid walking upon a hill that would give away their approach and place a detector/camera overlooking that area.

2. Note your sightlines from your house. Note especially blind spots. You are now able to create a camera array that is able to cover important blind spots in visual coverage and use less cameras to cover areas that can be seen from your house and a camera. Also ensure to note areas where people are covered/concealed. You'll want to especially focus efforts on either diminishing it or being prepared to deal with problems from that area. Also know that those areas can be used for your own retreat, so don't rashly destroy them.

3. Consider creating obstacles to dissuade someone from taking routes that would end up in blindspots. It's your property, so you can easily plant bushes and place other inconspicuous obstacles that a lazy tranny wouldn't want to overcome.

4. Consider a chest high wire fence to surround your house. This won't stop someone from climbing over, but it is easy to signal intent if a person is willing to jump the fence on camera. It also reinforces a subconscious suggestion for the lazy troon to take the easiest approach to your home. It being a wire fence also ensures that a bad acting tranny couldn't use it as cover while firing upon your house.

5. Consider all entrances and exits to your home, which rooms are easier to get to where, and also consider easy ways to keep objects that would make using that entrance impassible for even a short time. Example: Consider how long it would take you to barricade the front of your house while sitting in bedroom 1 (for sake of argument, this is the furthest room away from the entrance), with that consideration in mind, what kind of object would you be able to inconspicuously place by that door to make it impassible but able to be moved there while the troons are driving up the road and have been detected.

6. Consider the location of all forms of defense in the home, lay them out to have a fairly equal distribution of defense if caught in any room.

7. Consider an electric coded privacy gate. These are easy as fuck to get in Texas at least and are very unassuming. Driving through one will cause considerable damage to a vehicle.

8. In last line of defense (of your life), consider providing yourself an easy way to escape/retreat your house. Intentionally keep some grass high by an area you expect to perhaps leave from on a quiet electric bike while trannies shoot at your last known location.

Summary: Just analyze your property, come up with plan of passive defense and implement it. Also come up with plans for active defense and prepare to implement those at the correct time. If a troon comes knocking with lvl4 body armor, it won't matter because you have been watching them enter your property and bring themselves to pre-planned areas where they can be dealt with. Setting the stage for a bad confrontation will always end better for the prepared than the retard driving up without a plan.

Maybe a stab vest for stabbing, but helmets you absolutely can still bonk and shoot. Armour doesn't make bullets *ping* off.
I don't think people here and in prepper spaces understand being shot or hit with proper sufficient armour is still extremely painful and dangerous. May as well ditch it for mobility. Adrenaline is the best armour.

I know intentionally created artificial boobytraps are illegal but is a few sharpened sticks at the bottom of a bog really a 'boobytrap' or a 'natural hazard'

Anyway its probably unlikely these trannies will have c4 or breaching charges so you could go medieval fort with big thicc concrete walls that are sloped so they are impossible to climb so theyd have to be funneled into your browning killzone.

Sure they could try to undermine them but your surveillance should pick this up and if its a swampy shithole they would die of sepsis before being able to accomplish anything.

You may also consider planting lots of really shitty bramble and poison ivy. Once that stuff gets big its like natural fucking razorwire and passing through it is going to be absolute misery and I dont think Transforce 1's morale is that high to begin with.

In regards to weaponry probably consider 7.62 or .308 as its a little heavier than 5.56 but remember even though modern armor can stop you from being outright killed by gunfire; being whacked by a bullet still generates enough blunt force to break bones and damage organs.
