I just became aware of certain policies that enforce DEI "standards" for their organization, and how laughable they are. It is a true testament on how retarded society has become when it comes to these topics, and while you can make an argument in favour of some of these decisions, there are others that are completely moronic, and hint towards the policy itself coming from a racist or bigoted mind.

In this thread you can post examples of this, let us look at one: the coding standards of Unreal Engine/Epic Games.

Let's start by saying that this isn't new, it's a couple of years old I believe, and that I think it doesn't apply to customers that have their own projects and maintain themselves, but it does apply for their internal development (so developers at Epic Games or anything they work on). That is how I understand it, feel free to correct me.

Now for the fun part:

I believe I can understand the mind of someone who would write something like this, "attempting" to shift racial stereotypes out of the norm in society, the problem is that the reasoning behind is completely retarded, not to mention arguably racist. You really have to be braindead to associate "blacklist" to skin color, these idiots don't even know that colors are associated to certain things for numerous reasons, and that it doesn't have to involve melanin.

Then you'd have to avoid using "master" because a black person in the 21st century might get flashbacks of slavery in the US, how very considerate. They actually give a list of synonyms you might want to use instead, which you can check in the link/official page, same for the other terms.

And when it comes to gender inclusiveness, you will be challenged if you dare to use a gendered language, like spanish or german, for example. But even in english, it's odd that they tell you to use "it" and "its" for things like a module or plugin, because that's what normally an english speaker would do regardless.

How far can this go? If you like chaos hopefully pretty far, because this can be hilarious, and people getting sick of it is a step in the right direction I feel like.

Pronouns being a feature in resumes and job search platforms. WHY?
At my last job the HR Manager sent us an email mandating that we put our pronouns in our email signatures. A couple weeks later when some people (including myself) didn’t do so, she sent a passive-aggressive email where she thanked the folks who did by listing out their names. A month later she or the Office Manager had IT go in and automatically add the pronouns to everyone’s email and made it so you could not make any edits to it unless you called IT specifically to make changes.

That same year, the company wanted to have a mandate where when greeting a medical patient on the phone, we would speak our name and preferred pronouns, and we would have to ask the patient “Can you clarify who I’m speaking to and let me know your preferred pronouns?” I was so embarrassed I actually told my boss I wasn’t going to do it. By then I was close to getting a job offer and was planning on putting in my two weeks so the timing was excellent. Fuck that place and these shitty corporate-mandated DEI measures.

On the consumer-facing end: I was just talking about the whole “black/minority-led business” thing with a friend. Apparently Amazon features it as a search function now. It’s a really handy way of eliminating products and services, since that’s usually all they say they have going for them, versus like, being the best version of something.

They’re referencing people calling ships ‘she’. It’s stupid how you aren’t allowed to say ‘nuke’. Japanese people must not work at power plants because of how traumatic it would be to hear ‘nuclear’ all the time.

It's gone as far as it can possibly go.
We're over the hill and it's going away.
Making fun of this stuff will be mainstream by 2030, everyone will be doing it.

My work recently came up with a new one: "Multiple perspective hiring panels". What does that HR doublespeak mean, you ask? Well instead of interviews being conducted by the hiring manager and maybe his/her lead engineer + second-line manager if they're free, they will be conducted by a hiring panel selected for 'diversity' (read: women, niggers, and troons who can recite corporate DEI bullshit). There's not even a requirement for the panel to be managers or familiar with what the job they're hiring for entails - LaQuisha the receptionist could theoretically be on the hiring panel for a chemical engineering position.

Edit to Add:

Just because normies are starting to peak doesn't mean HR or executives are - in their worldview, backlash to DEI is proof that we need more DEI. Unless or until there is widespread backlash like what Tractor Supply got, or a major company going bankrupt over DEI, the mindset is too ingrained to remove.

My favorite is that I've worked at a place with a rule that explicitly stated to not do any accent but your own.
As someone who has German as my first language, I approve of this.
Americans making stupid Nazi jokes with bad imitated German accents have annoyed me greatly for my whole life.
If you want to be racist, be funny about it. Low-effort accents are trash tier humor.

I completely support low-effort bullying of Germans as Nahtzeees until they stop surrendering their country to the third world to prove otherwise, and start responding with a simple "Ja, I am, who cares?"
