My parents didn't believe in them growing up, saw them as a waste of money. The only time I really experienced them was seeing others set them off in the lane on big occasions - NYE, Christmas, Guy Fawkes night, etc.
The first time I personally handled any fireworks I was like 23, holding a sparkler at my friend's house on NYE. His mother then set off a few fireworks in the back garden, as did every other house nearby.
After 20 minutes or so, we used the lot. I asked her how much that cost, 'about £100 or so.' I get the token celebration items, but that much for basically nothing?
Safe to say it hasn't changed my mind. Seems like a massive fucking waste of money for nothing. For Guy Fawkes night in particular I've always physically constructed a 'man' and then burned it, something which, from construction to doing, was always way more appealing.
I'm on the side of 'retarded poor person decision.'
