I find it fascinating that it is always the same response. Some variation of "...wanted to play this game, but now I won't". Now it's 7D2D, it was the same with Factorio, Cyberpunk etc. None of those faggots had ever the intention to play a particular game, but suddenly there is some "issue" with it that "justifies" not buying it. Some of course play those games behind resetera's back. Remember ColdSun, the mod that played Hogwarts Legacy ?

Not much, except for making games, movies, TV shows and comics way shittier.

"Why the gays should be treated like people all year round." So I should just ignore them and mind my own business, unless I have a particular reason to interact with them. Ok, that works.

Of course, what they actually mean is they should be venerated with literal parades in their honor and I should actively get involved in dealing with their gay plight, whatever the fuck that is (honestly unclear).

There's no other group that demands so much while painting it as just wanting to exist. Don't recall my local corgi owners' club declaring that I must learn, listen and get involved, or else I'm a nazi. Though that would surely be both much cuter and more societally beneficial.

I think somebody tried to bring it up once but the main rule on Era is the jannies are the highest caste of all so nobody took the bait. Also ColdSun isn't much of a poster so the value of the catch is too low. (IIRC, he's one of the few admins that actually knows how to do any tech stuff so they need him.)

I recommend looking back to the Cyberpunk drama. It was spread over multiple posts so I can't easily link it. Basically the game was all but banned on ResetEra, but many of the big name posters wanted to play it anyway. So there was a sudden influx of people being gifted non-refundable copies, allegedly. Nobody believed them of course, but no one said anything as they were protected people. The Stellar Blade demo was similar, but on a much smaller scale.

It's the decades later mutation of an older rule where this meant basically not derailing an entire thread to be about it. Like not going into a thread about a Halo announcement with "haha GAYLO look at all these PlayStation exclusives!" or "why would I want this when I can play Splatoon on my Nintendo Switch" and then pages of back and forth. But both there and Era it became a way for jannies to crack down with plausible excuses even though they've never wielded it consistently or fairly and use it to shut down discussions that nobody would consider Console Wars but have been reported by a bunch of console warriors. So basically like all their rules.
