I think the big thing is you can't "set up" for Kingdom Come
why not? the main antagonist is literally created for the comic along with his "league" plus enough people have cultural knowledge of the seven to not need much backstory about them. George Miller's justice league movie would have been set so far into their history that they had fucking superhero themed restaurants.
I always imagined a Kingdom Come style movie where they do bring back Dean Cain and a lot of the early superhero people and you turn Magog into a quippy Deadpool/MCU style hero. its obviously an elseworlds story so really make it a spectacle. The way i see it, the movie would be a lot like that South Park Covid Special, where a lot of the viewers are invested just to see what their favorite characters are now up to/how they turned out.
i still find it weird that Billy just grows up to look exactly like himself as a super hero, sort of silly.
his real personality he's like a happy goofy fuck.
thats almost every actor, Joe Pesci was a poor man's Jerry Lewis in the stand up field until his acting career took off. the equivalent of if eric andre became known as the baddest motherfucker on the planet. If you watch old interviews of Brie Larson pre-The Room, she's basically the real life MPDG. The problem is how you act in front of an audience as yourself has barely a single thing to do with how you'll be able to act on screen or how audiences will accept you. If you only saw De Niro or Harrison Ford's interviews you would be shocked that they're playing these charismatic badasses
You can't make it as an actor without having an actor's personality.
I feel like people greatly overestimate Reynolds’ popularity.
his kids movie is one of the highest grossing films of the year and is an original IP. If anything his popularity is higher than the internet wants to admit, because he's accepted by normies now. it reminds me of how comedy fans acted about Louis CK or Shane Gillis when they were finally accepted by the mainstream. For fucks sake is there any real reason Deadpool and Wolverine are together in this film beside Ryan wanting to work with Hugh? outside of their origin they aren't really teamed up together.
the previous 2 movies were near the highest grossing r rating films of all time, and every box office estimate shows this film will most likely gross more than both combined, which is crazy because r-rated films really haven't been the highest grossing films of the year since the early 2000s. And sort of shows how we're currently in a modern "new hollywood" era. Comic book movies died with covid and its mostly r rated stuff that gets people in the seats.
