I think this topic has been touched on before, but I think the death of a horror channel starts when they start showing their faces on camera.
I can't stand looking at their faces. I just want to listen to spooky topics with some pictures detailing what's happening, but then these faggots feel the need to show their face and it just throws the entire atmosphere out of the window.
Ad reads mid-topic are a close contender too. Listening in to the details of some murder, then being advertised sandals is crazy.

I like i am sure many grew up with the 2000s era of internet that "wild west" as i've mentioned. When it was just scary stories and peolpe linking gore sites for shits and giggles it was when this horror side of youtube was niche and nobody but the dedicated actually cared. One of the many problems is when peolpe had easier access to the internet and things got curated and streamlines so every jane and joe with a webcam can just read wikis and posts from strangers for a youtube channel. This isn't a problem in and of itself but as you said the issue is not only are their faces prominent but as many have already said most get an ego.

On top of one of my main issue is the self censoring because instead of going to a place where they can post about some of these heinous irl stories without the corpo thumb on them they decide to stay for those ad dollars and to me it diminishes the value. Not only do you see their mug but they handle sensitive topics like a prissy little child and that really vexes me.

I don’t care if you’re a victim don’t speak for all victims as a collective because something triggered you it’s so fucking obnoxious. I don’t mind sex abuse used for horror so long as it’s clearly horror related and not some fetish. Faces is good analog horror covering a made up murderer. Real murderers also had child victims so this isn’t fetishizing abuse in any way for horror.
Alright sperging over this is why I don’t have a Twitter account so I can avoid constant streams of retardation.

Idk if i will get hate here for saying this but i was watching the Urbanspook fiasco and channels i watched swear off the series for the use of a child being on the victims to the maniac killer. The series to me reminds me of the surface level of why i liked internet horror stuff because i am not going in to every series needing to be wowed by amazing writing and narrative if it makes me uncomfortable that is the base level of what horror is supposed to do. I never hated the series because to me there is no "too far" because horror at its core is supposed to make you feel at least fearful and uneasy which is what i got on that base level with Urbanspook despite how i agree it's not written that well besides the spooky descriptions and images. I doubt the creator for the series was trying to "fetishize" the child victims but I got annoyed at the moral grandstanding because it made me realize why i don't like most of the current horror corner. It's all "safe" horror that is monitored and curated by these moralistic clowns who tell you what you can and can't make since they are a byproduct of today's internet art circle they screams at other artists for not drawing and producing art that they are comfortable.

It's interesting you say that middle part and people here have brought this up too. These people are so obsessed with representation and needing to be represented in media even if it doesn't directly. They CANNOT see anything without a mirror pointing at them through the thing they like so if it is too "edgy" they can't handle it because the reality is these are stunted and sheltered people who don't get something not appealing to them but can still be respected. It's almost always like this because as we've seen their circles and how they interact everything needs to abide by their ideals

The guys behind No Through Road were very early to this 'genre' and were, of course, one of the best, if you just count their first video. The follow ups get pretty weak and try way too hard to explain things that didn't need to be explained.

They got in first, hit the peak

And left within a few years. The latter uploads to their channel have nothing to do with horror, everything after No Through Road 4, which I would recommend not watching. Just keep it to the original.

I really wouldn't consider what they did to exactly be 'analog' horror anyway, and doesn't fit with most of the tropes of the genre. It's basically just found footage stuff from when that was getting big, but I can see how it may have influenced some of the later material. It's closer to Marble hornets which was going on around the same time than The backrooms.

Zoomers like their monsters. You will see them in memes and fan videos. Fanart that won't try to be consistent with the official art style and with a pronoun sheet attached.

They are concepts and what people in these circles like more than themselves is to attach themselves to something. Spoke about this many times as others have but UrbanSpook shook the core of a boring and stale genre because it showed something that didn't leave ambiguity these people can attach to. Regardless of its presentation it used topics that as you said are too real for them to handle since they're used to ambiguous, mascot bait they can make into trivialize drivel that is amb extension of themselves by making it trans or adding pronouns.

At its core UrbanSpook didn't allow since it's narrative is too specific and straightforward.

I feel the shift from content to personalities have been extremely detrimental to a lot of places on the internet and are getting worse. These same people who create cults of personalities don't seem to get why everywhere they go there is drama when they hype these individual's heads up so far they let their little internet fame get in the way of better judgement and logic. The thing i thought of and someone might have already said about MamaMax is that he is a good example of this because he might have started out with good intentions but people hyped his head up to make them "THE" Pedo slayer of Youtube and this isn't helped with the corny vigilante larp. Eventually these types will try to forge situations or over exert something to the point where people will start seeing the cracks that they are faking events to get their dopamine hits of attention.

We already have Emesis Blue and nothing is ever topping that. I'm a TF2sperg so I've seen every fucking tweaked model in Garry's Mod and the gay ARGs they are attached to and none of it ever comes close to being half as good as Emesis, where despite the whole point being how the game itself is fucking up physically with the mercs the true horror is how its fucking up their minds.

I really wouldn't consider what they did to exactly be 'analog' horror anyway, and doesn't fit with most of the tropes of the genre. I've said this before but out of the analogs I only see an actual attempt at getting a vibe similar to Gemini/Local 58 in Midwest Angelica and Arcadia TV, and that's because the creators know how to animate. Mandela Catalogue, Monument Mythos and all the other popular shit use digital camera with shitty filters. Saying analog horror gets to sit in the same table as No Through Road, Gemini, Marble Hornets or Local 58 is like saying theodd1sout and his retarded friends are the Newgrounds successors, a retarded take that proves you don't know what you are talking about.

emesis blue also works on the simple basis of it not treating the viewer like a complete retard + having a plot that isn't written by redditors and has more depth than "oh look, entities are alive and the mc is a dick to the pwoor digital entities", while also being closed and vague like the thing, you can re-watch it as many times as you want and still find yourself engaged because there's details that end up giving even more depth to the plot itself.

Since these types are so heavily embedded into everything it will take a while for them to be weeded out. Yeah No Through Road is a classic example of something not needing a sequel. It kept explaining and giving lore that only made things less scary.

This is something that always bugged me about The Misery Machine - While the people who run the channel certainly try to avoid the usual trappings of shittily-made YouTube true crime content - i.e. constantly saying unalive instead of any of the other non-offensive euphemisms for death - they certainly have some rather glaring faults. For example, saying "SA" every time they refer to sexual assault; I get that SA is an official, accepted abbreviation which does show up in investigations, but they use it like a verb, which just sounds wrong. If YouTube gets hung up on the word 'sexual', then they could just say "assaulted" or "violated" and get away scot free.

The fake crying definitely annoys me too, because it reeks of them trying to get more clicks rather than genuine concern. They can go from being completely stonefaced, then cry when discussing the latest horrific case committed by sick fucks against kids, then immediately lighten up with the fakest shit-eating grin possible to shill their latest sponsor. If they're not faking it, and this really is genuine emotion (which I can buy), then it's a case of shitty editing. Either way, as a watcher, it's extremely jarring to see on-screen.

Had a weird thought the other day.

I think this new wave of internet horror isn't meant to, well, horrify you so much as it is to excite you. You're still meant to be scared of course, but it's showcased in a safer and more thriller-esque way that the material it covers is far easier to digest and understand without all those icky feelings like disgust and a deep sense of hopelessness with the world and humanity killing the whole vibe and possible even ruining your day. It's a different kind of horror than the one many of you people in this thread seem to enjoy so much. Probably ought to be considered its own subgenre since it's become so distinct.

Had Urban Spook been presented like--I don't know, Local 58--I couldn't imagine you'd see so many people criticizing it the way they have. Probably shift the other way if it had some kind of mystery too, even if it barely existed and made absolutely no sense. Hopped up on levels of abstraction and implicit irony never before seen in the history of humanity, you'd have people on reddit and youtube unironically discussing the intricate nuances of child mutilation and horse rape or whatever to try and figure out who the painter is, why he's doing it, and maybe what his power level is I don't know. It'd fit right in with the alternates that bully you until you kill yourself... well, until Alex pussied out.

No idea if this made any sense, but that's what I had.

He covers alien encounter stories like the second one I posted, which implies gray aliens may not be from space but might be connected to mind control experiments/Man-made monsters including alien looking creatures and men in black working with human traffickers. He also talked about the weird phenomenon of phantom painters in San Francisco. Where whole neighborhoods of houses are painted overnight with zero eyewitnesses in such a way, it would have taken a large group of people to do so. The painters reassemble cavemen's art. Also, a new YouTube channel tackling creepy things on Mexican television. Broadcast hijacking showing creepy videos to expose leaked crime scene footage to the public is more common in Mexico and Latin America altogether.
