Intercity light rail
If you're going between cities that are any substantial distance away from each other then you should be using heavy rail, most half-decent multiple units will be able to keep pace with or even outrun most regular traffic once it gets up to speed (trains take a while to do this, one of their major disadvantages tbqh) assuming that the stations are far enough apart to justify using it.

Heavy Rails other big advantage is usually that it has forced segregation from road traffic, so can run faster, and capacity for energy spent, it's biggest drawbacks are getting the land for that segregation, and legacy/tech debt.

That's why they are alright for commuter traffic where you have a large wave of passengers to a area, but shit for sub/urban transfers compared with bus/tram.

Where car traffic rules is that gap where you have lower numbers of people going between decentralised destination and decentralised origins, which the rise of the car matches with the de-industrialisation of cities and towns causing that decentralisation.

Expecting an urbanist to understand that is futile because they are retarded spergs who only ever look for confirmation lol, if I was more paranoid I'd say they are a psy-op since they absolutely ruin the rep of some good ideas with their retardedness like 'just stop oil' and the anti meat activists do xD

It's the classic "if the reality does not conform to my fantasy it's the reality's fault".
Now for some lunacy...

I actually lived in an Euro city that keeps implementing those shitty street redesigns. Redditors absolutely think that those flats are occupied by normal tenants but they aren't- they're being converted to aribnbs en masse or other accomodations for tourists/ other temporary dwellers- which in turn makes lives of actual citizens even worse. It's no wonder that cookie cutter neighbourhoods are being built all around the city- people just don't want to live in fantasyland created by someone who swallowed the anti-car ideology.

Taxis are a form of public transit.
Well there's a new one. In that case why aren't planes also public transport to these people?

I had a random thought while I was just sitting around one time. What would these urbanists think if jetpacks were introduced. It may seem straight forward, but then I thought about it a little deeper.

Reasons why they might like them:
  • They're smallish and compact compared to a car
  • They don't take up road space since they fly
  • Can't use the run over children argument
  • Same carry capacity as a bike
Reasons why they might hate them:
  • They can't afford them
  • They are personal property (but then so is a bike/moped and it can only transport one person as well)
  • Possibly bad for the environment
  • They're loud
  • It could be something Elon Musk might like
I really do think how they develop their opinions on things is what the rest of them tell them to think about it. Why do they hate planes? It's basically just a flying bus.

Even the people who they pay to drive them around think that they're losers:
A lot of people who use rideshares DO have a car, it's just inconvenient/different city/drunk/issues to do so and drivers know this.

100% the only reason the question even came up is because this retard started bragging about it and that only led to the question..."why".

What I think happened is the driver was trying to make small talk, retard brought up he didn't have a car, the driver asked why, and immediately retard lost all confidence in himself and knew he didn't have a good answer. Then, pissed because he made a fool of himself, took to Reddit to bitch about it.

They will absolutely hate them because:
  • They are fun.

There has been a second attempt at a reddit request for r/NotJustBikes by the same person and Jason seems to be really mad this time.

Jason is probably in his late 30s to early 40s is this how he acts all the time?
Is their anybody with more contempt for their audience than Jason (besides the TRS guys of Sven and fellow retard cyclist mongoloid Alex McNabb)

Isn't the whole purpose of setting up a subreddit for a channel is so that fans of your content have a place to talk about it? What do you think Jason is hiding in his secret club anyway?

This is especially true for creators on Nebula, which doesn't have comments. Nebula's official stance (which Jason has echoed) is that that's a feature not a bug, and if you want discussion to just use Reddit. Kind of goes at odds when you lock down discussion but Jason is nothing if not hypocritical.

For someone who says he doesn't want to talk about the US he sure spends a lot of time talking about it:
Governor Hochul seemed to make a calculated move on cancelling congestion pricing, it wasn't polling well with anybody except Manhattanites and even then the support wasn't especially huge.

I wonder if the podcast will repeat the "she got money from the automotive industry!" rumor that was invented without any proof or evidence.

I really do think how they develop their opinions on things is what the rest of them tell them to think about it. Why do they hate planes? It's basically just a flying bus.

You know that they repeat stuff, most of them just repeat the "uhh just read Strong Towns" when asked for evidence. If jetpacks ever get to the consumer pricepoint, there will be a lot of government pushback, which will be repeated by the media, which they will eat up. (See earlier in the thread).

Why do conservatives not agree with us?

Despite no book or website even suggesting it, "density = liberalism" is a terrible take as one Redditor thinks. It's definitely not true outside of American politics, otherwise India and Japan would be communist, and even in the States, there's a difference between an apartment in the suburbs and the same apartment building style in the middle of the ghetto (or outside of a university). Not to mention that a lot of the blue strongholds in major cities are the ultra-rich neighborhoods in the city. You think that Beverly Hills, with its sprawling mansions and huge lots, is some sort of conservative stronghold? Get out of here. Cities tend to be blue that rely on both the underclasses who will vote for gibs, and the ultra-rich which will also vote Democrat, but for different reasons, and those two groups will collectively outvote the 30-45% red vote in the same city.

Other than the fact that planes are inherently cooler than trains, I think it's because urbanism, at its core, is a reactionary movement. It may attract soy-addicted leftists like flies, but mostly because of the collectivism aspect and the allure of central planning.

On YouTube Jason has guidelines for his comment section to discourage people from making a comment.View attachment 6174522
If you discourage people to take time of out their day to engage enough with a video to make any sort of comment, why should people take you that seriously?
i get the meme of internet comments and mass accesible forums like comments being retarded but you could apply this to literally any other mass market forum like reddit lmao

I don't have personal experience with jetpacks but I don't believe jetpacks force one to be in close proximity to those whose close proximity is meant to punish you.

A bike doesn't necessarily either but it can be stolen by them. It's a tithe of sorts.
