correct. CA national parks (as in, federal jurdisdiction but physically in CA's borders), private hunting grounds, CA hunting grounds controlled by CA fish and game, and on native reservations are the currently allowed hunting grounds for game animals. fur bearing has some different maps, and upland game like waterfowl or pheasant, et c are controlled by fisheries which does allow it on/in/near water (including lakes, rivers, bays, et c) with a valid hunting permit and there are additional rules as well (no lead containing ammunition, et c).So can lefty states not hunt state parks anymore during deer season?
note the exception is specific for what i mentioned above. unlike other states there are no "open hunting ground/land" in CA at all.
