Trump handled an assassination attempt while bleeding better than 99% of lolcows handle criticism from the comfort of their homes.

it was reportedly like 130 yards. military rifles are specced to, by definition, be accurate to 600 yards. the distance would be impossible for a pistol but for a rifle, especially in a prone position, should be incredibly easy. plus a stationary target, only in front of a podium.

.223/5.56 is a light bullet, any crosswind at all would have pushed it off course at that distance, not to mention we don't know if this guy had his sights adjusted correctly or had zeroed his rifle for a cold barrel shot. If the shooter had any hunting or military experience he would have gone with a .308 at the very least

no military training and went for the head, which is far, far harder to hit than center body.

As always, Aim little, miss bigly. The Shooter may have been aware that trump wears body armor under his clothes, so a body shot with a 5.56 may or may not have done serious damage depending on the plates and Kevlar level, but I get the feeling this guy wanted to splatter his brains on the crowd to "send a message" and insure that his death was caught on film rather than him being rushed ti a hospital and passing there.
