There's no way that kid ever had gauges or got them sewn back together View attachment 6188872
Is the media wrong about Crooks? Is the shooter actually Yearick?

PS shoutout @PS2 Nishiki
I said this on /pol/ but I don't think that's a gauge scar. I think it's blood from getting his face blown in half. It *does* look deceptively like a gauge scar though

What would be the reason the donation says it's from pittsburgh if he doesn't live in pittsburgh???

Man post a version that isn't behind a pay wall so we can all read it.

A Times Photographer Who Was Feet Away From Trump Describes the Shooting

“I hope I get the right shot. I hope I’m not shot myself,” said Doug Mills, who has been photographing presidents since 1983.

Doug Mills, a veteran photographer for The New York Times who has been taking photographs of presidents since 1983, was only feet away from former President Donald J. Trump at the rally in Butler, Pa., when shooting started.
He spoke with Victor Mather about the experience.

What did you see and hear today?

It was a very standard, typical rally. The former president was maybe an hour late. The crowd had been hot all day. Donald J. Trump arrived, waving to the crowd, just like any other rally he does.

There’s a pool of photographers, maybe four of us, who were in what is called the buffer area just a couple feet from the former president. We were all jostling around in there trying to get our normal pictures.

With his Secret Service detail between him and the crowd, Donald Trump walked to the stage in Butler, Pa., on Saturday.Credit...Doug Mills/The New York Times
All of a sudden, there was what I thought were three or four loud pops. At first I thought it was a car. The last thing I thought was it was a gun.

I kept taking pictures. He went down behind the lectern, and I thought, “Oh my God, something’s happened.”

Then all the agents started running on the stage, and they basically completely covered him. I could hear them yelling. At first someone saying, “Sir, sir, sir.”

After shots were fired, members of the Secret Service detail covered the former president at left, as a counter-sniper stands on the stage.

With that, the counter-snipers, also members of the Secret Service, whom we rarely see unless they’re on a roof or something, they come up out of nowhere and were up on the stage holding automatic rifles.

I went from one side of the stage to another to see if I could see him any better. And that’s when he got up and put his fist in the air. And I thought, “He’s alive, he’s alive.”
I could see blood on his face. I kept taking pictures. As tough as he looked in that one picture with his fist looking very defiant, the next frame I took, he looked completely drained. Very, very shocked.

As he came down the steps, the Secret Service completely covered him in a blanket of people and they walked him all the way to his SUV.

What happened in the aftermath?

I turned around and I saw people screaming and heard somebody had been shot in the crowd. They held us in Trump’s normal holding tent for probably 30 minutes.
When we came out we saw the littered field, plastic bottles, cellphones, a motorized wheelchair just abandoned.

In your career, have you ever been in a similar situation?

I’ve always feared being in this situation. I always wondered what I’d do in this situation. I hope I get the right shot. I hope I’m not shot myself.
At first I thought right away, “Could I be shot?” It was scary.

I’ve never been in a more horrific scene. As much as I’ve covered presidents for 35 to 40 years, it’s not something I ever wanted to witness.
There were a lot of members of his staff backstage crying, I got lots of hugs all just saying, “I’m so glad we’re OK.”

I never envisioned being in a situation like this.

The one thing I really don't get is how this happened now and not 4-8 years ago. Back then there was a genuine air of vitriol surrounding Trump. He felt like the main antagonist of the entire Earth if you watched American news media. It seemed like a matter of time before someone would try to pull something like this.

But now Trump's energy is so much lower. You don't see trump signs in every other yard driving through the country like you did this time last election season. The media isn't portraying Trump as public enemy number one anymore because they know the scare tactics won't work after we saw how mundane a Trump admin was.
I see a lot of Trump signs. I know of like three people with Biden signs and they are all public school teachers who retired with a hefty pension.

Most people kinda see that the current status quo is pure entropy. Trump is not some juggernaut against the status quo, but he does want change. He does want some solutions.

What’s happened because of that? Persona non grata. Lawyers looking into election fraud were threatened into dropping him, DoJ threatened to mass resign if he demanded they look into it, banned every where, constant kangaroo court battles where precedent is destroyed to get to him, legal fights that either fuck over everyone or summary judgements, allies get multibillion dollar debt because they called out a trap for his supporters, and now an assassination attempt.

The friendship between Shinzo Abe and Trump was one of the most genuinely heartwarming things I've seen from world leaders in decades. Always made me laugh. Probably had bunk beds at the G8 summit and stayed up late playing Battletoads on the Nintendo.

Won't powerlevel, but they were golfing. 27 holes at the hotel, nice view too.

@My Earnest Opinions

Wait. Hold on a second.
So NYP reports Thomas Crooks (what a name!) an hour before official presser, based on a dysgenic dude on Twitter who gave them that information? How did the dysgenic dude on Twitter know the correct name to give in the first place; regardless of troll? This was before official pressers went out and accusations were being shot in the air like Yosemite Sam declaring he was gonna get that dere varmint. How the fuck did he know? Why the fuck was his picture being circulated around 7-8PM EST? Did this dysgenic little fuck actually know something, or was he actually just obstructing a federal investigation for the sake of updoots?

I think it's not so much that people love Trump but that they love what he represents,
No, a fair few of them love the man too

Trump did a campaign stop at a restaurant in, let's say it was Wisconsin, and the restaurant actually made for him to take home his mother's recipe for meatloaf. Trump's late mother actually had a recipe for meatloaf/meatballs and these people actually took the time to make it for him to eat on the plane. I remember reading that and thinking 'They would never do something like that for Joe Biden. Or Hillary Clinton'

A lot of people love Trump for what he stands for, which is a battering ram against all these forces who've caused them pain and made their lives miserable. But I'd say just as many resonate with him as a person, because he's not just an ordinary empty suit politician, he's a human being who thinks and talks in much the same way they do.

So, if they'd killed him, I think there'd be a lot of people upset and angry on a personal level

still not sure what emboldens a 20yo to assassinate a presidential candidate...
Well, being young, impressionable and terminally online. Kid was in school during the pandemic, was home online getting their brains warped by people touched in the head and how easily people run with catastrophizing things. Dude coulda been depressed and paranoid. Bad combo.

Edit: Does he have a hair lip?

Being terminally online will do that to an MFer. I even sometimes have to log off because the outrage bait gets too strong. There is something effective about left wing propaganda that can convince people to sterilize themselves and their kids for the greater good.
