Apparently the current spin from the left is “he was a registered republican” like that must mean he was on the right! He donated to Biden which IMO is more indicative of having left wing politics. Plus: why would someone on the right want to kill Trump? We might not be happy with some of his policies and things he says (the giving green cards to everyone attending US colleges comes to mind), but when it comes to issues that matter to us he is way better than Biden and most of the other republican candidates.

From what the US Politics thread guys say. Democrats in some states have registered republican in order to vote for Republican candidates that Democrats will easily win against.

I haven't had ANY sleep since yesterday, I'm going to need to go to bed at around 7am in the morning, but still...I wonder if I'm onto something? The NY Post scooping the 'real name' long before everyone else (despite getting the ethnicity totally wrong) was suspicious as hell

To be fair though, it is a known fact that many Republican voters went for Biden in the last election because they didn't like/agree with Trump, so it is possible that he was a more moderate conservative and regular Republican voter who couldn't bring himself to vote for someone like that.

My understanding of that particular phenomenon is that it's more that Democrats in majority-Republican areas will sometimes register as Republicans so that they can try to influence local politics in a more moderate, less extreme direction. I guess I could be wrong? But everyone I've ever heard of doing this lived in a deep red area and was just trying to keep the Q crazies from taking over and maybe try to get the one Republican in their state who thinks women should have rights elected, not like.. sabotage the election so the Dems can win or whatever.

No, the NYP just posted the name. The Twitter guy saw that. Saw the picture. Realized it looked like him, and thought he'd play a prank. And say he is Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Then other people tried to find his social media, and came across the pranksters post.

But then likely the feds dropped a lawsuit on him for interfering in an ongoing investigation.

Yeah, I know that's the official narrative so far. I wrote a long post on it with multiple edits. Currently I'm 90% sure that the official narrative (i.e. shooter = TMC, jewgazing = someone not named TMC) is legit, but in the Year of our Lord 2024, with multiple sloppy glowops, I really wonder if they're going bold on this.

Well... I made those screencaps myself before the account went private, so this isn't second hand knowledge for me. The guy was just a stupid meme coomer guy who thought it'd be funny. Then he started freaking out when serious news outlets were reporting it for real.
