Whether or not it’s technically accurate, “movie” is typically taken to mean a feature-length film rather than the short-form content James made/makes. Rightly or wrongly, making X number of movies sounds more impressive to most people than making the same number of videos/shorts, so that’s how James puts it.

I think it's just his autism. All of the baffling creative decisions, all of the Kindergarten-level of humor, all of the weird things with how he gets shit done can be attributed to autism.

I'm a month late to the Dan Olson AVGN critique (didn't watch it, but did go back and read the last 10 pages of the thread).

Getting very meta reviewing Frankie & EJ reviewing Dan Olson reviewing James Rolfe reviewing old Nintendo games.

Some musings
- Red Cow credits one of their own slobs for editing this 40 min piece from their podcast
- Frankie described Breadtube as "commies" which made me smile. I'm always leery of these guys because they reside in Massachusetts and consume Netflix/capeshit slop. But I think they're probably at least somewhat secretly based.
- Frankie said the video essay was the very definition of "pretentious" and outright hated it. EJ was more on the fence.
- They did some light defending of TCT, making similar points to here that Olson stole research from it then distanced himself calling them misogynists & fatphobes.
- Frankie mildly condemned TCT for transphobia, but then walked it back saying the mods remove it almost immediately. He did concede that TCT fatphobia exists.
- They dug up some old clip of Lindsay Ellis (Nostalgia Chick) and Olson shitting on Doug Walker pre-#ChangetheChannel that they'd been on "real" filmsets and looked down on his shitty setups and craft services. Frankie and EJ called out Ellis & Olson as ungrateful phoneys (paraphrased, my words).
- they also did comment, similar to KF, that Olson seemed to treat Doug Walker with pure vitriol while using kid gloves with James

This was an interesting watch and it made me relies why I find nuRolf a bit frustrating to watch he treats what is supposedly his main income as a side hustle

Says a lot about them if they can’t make their own content that people wanna see and instead make videos making fun of someone who did and does what they can’t in order to farm views from that person’s detractors.

Truthers don’t watch the content for Elfy and Beardo, they watch it because it’s Anti-James content. They’d watch a furry demisexual tranny if it made Anti-James content.

That might very well be true even if AVGN was already past it's prime when the addpocalyps hit James would have still made a hefty bag and if he spent it well he could probably be set for life but if that's true then he should just stop making videos he doesn't care about, instead he should just pump out one or two videos he wants to make JonTron Style
