Didn't want to post this from two days ago, but yeah that seems to be the case. Potentially Criminal had a guy that does private security details. Seems like he has some inroads with the USSS by working with them in the past. He mentioned that the guy that took him out was at 300-400ish yards. Was holding his claims with a grain of salt, but this confirms it for me. They break down that their view was obstructed by some trees, while the platform was not obstructed by those trees from the shooter.

The idea with absolutely no supporting evidence that this 20 year old guy was some super computer genius hacker or paranoid electroprepper who knew and did elaborate OPSEC every day that even people twice his age and 10x his experience would never bother with is also laughable.

The spooks probably know exactly the type of person crooks is by now. They've set up a system to almost instantaneously take down a suspect's social media accounts upon an incident happening. So they are the sole custodian of the data about who crooks is which is too dangerous/inflammatory for the public to know. If it is ever released, it will be released when it is no longer dangerous (ie everybody has forgotten and moved on and there is minimal political effect) and then probably only bits and pieces which paint him as a centrist or republican to prevent right wing extremism.

I would guess there are competing interests in the party. Dems who are up for election/reelection want Biden off the ticket because they fear a downballot backlash. Dems who aren't want Biden kept on because the argument over who will succeed him is likely to spark conflicts in the party that could cause damaging lasting for the next two election cycles or longer. Both sides have resigned themselves to losing the 2024 presidential race, the difference is what kind of collateral damage they're more worried about.
