This is not a policy prescription for the status quo. Its a repudiation of the Treaty of San Francisco that ended World War 2.

The Republican Party is no longer the party that believes the United States is a global hegemon of the liberal world order. The Liberal World Order is its own thing, and the USA is its own thing. The clock is reset to 1913 as far as North America is concerned. The world can hang.

This can be good or bad. Depending on who gets to dangle.

Trump has to win first. The neo-cons are still around, they haven't gone anywhere, and they won't leave just because of one fiery speech.

You'll have to wait for Election Day. By the end of November, check which message is crowing on cable news:

"See, it worked! We're the future of the Party."
"See, it didn't work! We're coming back, to save the Party."

Honestly I liked Vance, he seems very normal like someone who’s actually lived a life that you or I have. I mean it’s not like Trump was going to get a VP that was more bombastic than himself and at least he doesn’t come off like a robot like that fucker Pence. Also I don’t really care about the skin color of his wife, I’m white but I have a lot of family that aren’t, from japs to spics so that stuff doesn’t bug me.

Middletown is within commuting distance of both Cincinnati and Dayton. It's part of continuous suburban sprawl between the two cities, not exactly what most people picture when you say "small town".

Nah that looks like typical small town in late 20th century-early 21st century America, forest and farmland 5 minutes away max in one or more directions, built up areas the same other directions. A small town is not a village or hamlet, it's a small town

Besides his family is from Jackson Kentucky, which has about 2,000 people, and he spent a lot of summers there as a child

The obvious opponents of Trump are generally gone now, now the ones left are the people who are willing to pretend to like him if it means they can prolong their political careers.

I can only wonder what shenanigans will occur at the Democratic National Convention. Imagine if Biden dies of coof.

To any Trump speechwriters lurking on the Farms: add a line to his speech bragging about how long he's talking, how much the crowd loves it, and how Joe would never be able to talk coherently this long.

I expect to get half your bonus for what the Democrats attempt in response.

Hes got some good tweets. I like that its someone young for once that almost sort of relates to some of the internet culture and can compete/engage on that front.

Trump genuinely loves America, and not just the idea of America but the nation and its corpus. He loves Americans. He loves to spend time with them. The RNC has been packed with stories of him spending time with his supporters, normal folks, talking to them and having fun with them. His affection for his base is the thing that makes me view Trump as worthy to rule. The warmth he feels for his people could not be a sharper contrast to the way Democrat politicians glare at their people with this hungry, beady, black-eyed reptilian look. He is the American populares.

Because they thought Trump would be an oaf and make Biden look good in comparison.
Or Trump would back down once Biden said he would debate him.
Or Team Biden thought the media would play it like Smiling Friends. Asking Joe soft ball questions while giving Trump curve balls.
Or Team Biden bought their own propaganda and thought Joe was not demented.
Or Team Biden thought that the media would back them even after Biden flailed on nation tv.

Or a mix of or all of the above.

It was a combination of all 4. They set all the rules of the debate and selected the moderators. They figured Trump would push back and that would give them the opportunity to say that "Trump refuses to debate me". Instead Trump just agreed and went in.

Then they figured the last two coupled with friendly moderators would carry them through. After all, if they could get another "Shut up Man" moment, they're set. Instead, Biden stroked out on national tv and the American people had 90 minutes to look behind the curtain.

Pepsico can have that diversity hire idiot back. What if the sodas are in danger? What if Coke tries to steal the secret recipe?! They need her!
Good thing she doesn’t work for Coke or that recipe would be long gone by now. Speaking of Coke apparently the recipe isn’t patented and is a company secret but if you can figure out yourself you could patent it yourself… I think idk I remember a video I watched about that….. I don’t know where I’m going with this but….
