If Biden is indeed stepping down, we have no official confirmation yet btw, who will fall on the sword for the party?

Newsom? Fuck not a chance
Whitmer? Very unlikely
Polis? Doubtfull
Shaperio? maybe..but still unlikely
Bootygig? Possible, his career is also DOA so he's got little to lose
Klobuchar? Doubtful again, she's got eyes on 2028
Harris? possible, no one likes her and she's toast either way. Maybe they'll get Joe to step down so Kamala can be the first female PotUS as the bribe. Plus it would probably drive Clinton to kill herself.

The real issue is no pol with a future wants to be the guy that lost to Trump. It's something that will follow you around for the rest of your life.

My bet is on Harris...she's the most likely and the least useful in the long run.

That's the catch-22 of it all. The only candidates who are going to throw their hat into the ring are those that feel like they don't ever have a real chance of winning a regular primary and having all the benefits that accrue from getting to campaign for multiple years. No one with a serious future is going to give up the opportunity to be able to be a "legitimate" dem candidate in 2028 and likely get to run against a republican with a lot less popular appeal.
