I think Newsom would see the risk in that. It’s a political career killer to try and run this late into the game. Newsom has presidential aspirations, and this would tarnish it. I could be wrong though. Dems have been surprising me lately in how poorly planned out their strategies have been. It’s especially bad compared to past years. Changing the presidential candidate this late has a pretty big chance of backfiring, and whoever is running will take a hard fall in popularity if it isn’t successful.

At least running Biden in 2020, they were able to use Corona more effectively to make sure he didn’t speak in public too often. Lockdowns also gave a great excuse for whenever only journalists would show up to his rallies. These excuses don’t exist anymore, at least not like they used to.

Besides all that, since both Kamala (not the Ugandan Giant) and Gavin Bateman are from Cali, the Ds would kiss those 55 electoral votes away pursuant to the 12th Amendment. They can't afford that.

There will have to be another debate. I think that means they cannot stick with Kamala. If I was betting on someone, I'd look for the most likable person that is also quick witted enough to sling smack back at Trump. That's not a high bar, but that ain't Kamala.


That is if they want to win, which, also, I think, a majority of their jewish backers do not want. If Trump can physically make it into office, he wins. There still must be kayfabe. I think its going to be limp, but strong enough to keep things maximally divisive.

Fake news. They can be, but electors from that state and that state only cannot vote for both of them (due to the Twelfth Amendment), which puts them at a disadvantage and for that reason it's not done.

This was the only sensible step for the democratic party to take if they want any miniscule chance at winning over the deified Donald Trump. But Biden endorsing Kamala Harris is just as terrible a move as Biden being the presidential candidate.

This is most certainly the first step in stepping down from the presidential nomination. He’ll use illness in conjunction with his age to save face and gracefully hand the reigns over to Harris.

The Democrats have kinda fucked themselves by betting on Trump being inadmissible for presidential candidacy because Biden has fucking dementia and Harris, the only other horse in the race, polls worse than Biden on any given day of the week. They now have 4 months to make Kamala Harris a more appealing firebrand candidate that can galvanize the American public than Donald Trump. Even if she rides the wave of girl power, it still won’t be enough.

Trump’s already won and the democratic party knows it. At least Joe can now bow out and maintain his legacy without accepting a full on loss due to dementia.

Yeah, that's basically my supposition. Begs the question though why even bother with the Biden resignation at-all, surely it would just be better to let him soak up all the hate; it just makes them look more shambolic and disorganised as an entire organisation.

Harris has to run. No one else can do it. It's either her or Gavin, and Gavin, despite being a dipshit, is more brilliant and knows it's a bad idea to run right now.

But how well would Gavin be received by independents and moderates who have seen just how messed up California has become under his governorship - namely how open illegal alien-friendly California is and all of the state's ongoing financial woes.

Right now, the Left is fractured:

I talked to someone about this not even 48 hours ago. For the past 2-3 or so years, the Republicans were the fractured party and the Dems salivated at the chance to secure victories while they were infighting and vulnerable. Now, we're seeing an 180-degree turn heading into the 2024 election.

Who is going to be Kamala's VP pick?

If what I heard is true that the Obamas and Clintons are pulling the strings and calling the shots behind the Democratic Party, it will inevitably be someone of their choosing without concern for any other sort of criteria.

That said, I can easily see the Dems wanting some combination of a woman, minority, and LGBTetc.

Is this a social media coup?

At first, I wasn't sure if this was legit, but I saw the headline here. Also, the music show I normally listen to this afternoon got preempted for an NPR discussion of Biden's announcement. The people discussing it seemed pretty smug that Kamala is a slam dunk if she picks a women or minority VP to run against "two white guys."

So Kamala has a chance against trump or not?

The Republican Party officials can't afford to rest on their laurels. They need to start preparing for a potential Trump/Harris debate and find ways for Trump to make himself look like the more attractive candidate to swing voters in light of what she's done in her past, her lackluster vice presidency, and what she would do if elected in terms of public policy/party platform.

How many of them are gonna be screaming for the candidate that they voted for in the primaries?

I can't help wondering if those voting for Biden in the primary would file legal action (assuming they're able to) arguing that they were effectively disenfranchised. I'm also curious if the Democratic convention procedures cover this situation and what should happen, or if we'll see the powers that be make stuff up as they go along to strongarm their voting base into accepting whoever emerges as the candidate.

Of course if you are interested in le voting in the US, please still go, they may expect low Republican turnout because the election seems to be in the bag so far. Overconfident bases can sink a bulletproof campaign.

A person I told about Biden's dropping out conceded that Harris and what polices she could adopt with control of the Federal Legislature are unpalatable enough that a vote for Trump actually seems more desirable.

That said, Trump and the Republicans need to include messages encouraging their voting base to get out and vote this November. As I posted elsewhere, I think Trump's not embracing absentee voting played a part in the 2020 elections and I'd like to believe the party has realized what a wasted opportunity that was.

If Harris does poorly, the Dems will just say debates don't matter as they wanted us to believe after Biden's abysmal performance.

Hoping for Whitmer so we can get that dumb ass FBI plot back in the news

Whitmer seems to have no interest in wading into this year's presidential election shitshow. I could see her wanting to possibly run in four years after she's done with her second and final term as governor. Worse, if she left Michigan now, her lieutenant governor would run Michigan worse than she has.

While Biden's Presidency has been disastrous for pretty much everyone, a lot of Dems have deluded themselves into believing it's all been wonderful to not be able to afford rent or groceries without going into debt.

I've been seeing a meme circulating through the Vote Blue No Matter Who crowd claiming the stock market has doubled over the past four years and everyone's retirement funds have also doubled. When confronted with responses from people whose retirement funds have not increased by 100% as claimed, the response is crickets chirping, dismissal, or seething. It comes across as a vacuous truth that too many people seem willing to accept without question.
