The guy that does MA uses AI voices for budget reasons, and if I see these fuckers start a civil war on the comments over it I'm gonna lose it
I still remember these faggots making that Scooby doo fnaf crossover creator hire VAs when he'd made the AI voice clones work quite well. Ignoring them is the best route cause they have no real power, and I hope the MA guy doesn't have much social media. They don't link to an official twitter or anything, and they do already have a merch store and patreon. (A1, A2)

The patreon is only making ~ 100 usd a month right now.

I've been going down a rabbithole of people making Minecraft Found Footage ARGs using alpha/beta versions where "sooper sp00py" stuff happens, all the while split second codes show up on screen for other video or imgur links.
Quality ranges from just being OK to "what the fuck is happening, lmao?" Example being this one channel featuring a sentient AI player that accidentally got out from the 2011 california blackout, and the FBI got involved with shutting down any direct download links to the AI player, listing it as an "active endangerment to children".
Some of it is mildly interesting. Like this one channel that features an alternative development cycle of Minecraft alpha 1.0.16 that seems a little more "fantasy" oriented compared to it being a bit more grounded in its lore.
You can also play these modded versions apparently
Most of it is a bit dumb and out there for what it is (FBI, secret shadow admin groups, what have you), but I think compared to gay shit like Mario 64 beta ARGs found footage type channels, these videos feel at least a little more believable since with "creepy" Mario 64 videos they feel so incredibly fake on the basis that you expect me to believe a game made by a Japanese toy company would just have VHS footage lying around of anomalous affects going on in a 30 year old game (in English no less)?
But with these Minecraft videos, there is the possibility that yeah, some kid from the 2010s big into Minecraft, may have actually recorded something anomalous on camera and posted about it or kept it hidden for a long time hoping to forget about it. On top of that, some of them do go above and beyond with trying to sell that these were recorded back in 2010-2013 as you can see a person's desktop running Windows 7/vista and having shit like Skype and old program logos installed instead of using their modern iterations.
I don't know, it's nothing amazing or groundbreaking, but compared to the tranalog horror slop that permeates the horror sphere, these feel at least mildly intriguing to watch.

It's certainly more believable with how interconnected Minecraft is with the early days of youtube and how people used to "prove" Herobrine is real.

People really love discrediting whole entire works just because of some AI voices.

"Hire real voice actors!", they say. No one's obligated to hire you entitled hacks. If they wanna use AI voices, let them. It's not ruining your comic dub portfolio any time soon. It's their project, their rules, their ways of making through it. AI voices can work well when implemented right but people ignore that and just call it "slop" on repeat.

Reminds me of the whole Eagan Tilghman situation where he was chewed left and back for daring to use some AI voices and people ended up saying the whole video sucked because of it. He nearly got blacklisted from the animation industry, too. You're not losing your job any time soon because someone thought making an AI dub or cover was funny to do.

God, I'm so glad I keep art as a hobby instead of a profession. I despise the animation industry so much, man. But that's for the Cartoon Industry thread, not this one.

I've seen some of these and most are pretty mediocre. Similarly to Gmod "ARGs"(putting it in quotes cause they're not really ARGs cause they have no game element) they rely on cliches, such as:
  • Reupload of old videos
  • Special portal construction recipe
  • Admin conspiracy inside Minecraft
  •    render distance "mysteriously" decreasing
Some of them are incredibly lazy, to the point that it looks like the author didn't give a single fuck, e.g.: building a house in survival without having the tools necessary to gather the materials he used.

There was one ARG that I liked though, and that was a real ARG cause the author was taking viewers' suggestions. It involved him encountering an unknown invisible mob, capturing it and performing experiments on it. But I can't find the link to the channel anymore and it was abandoned a couple of years ago.

I really like Minecraft Lilypad Edition, it feels more like Minecraft from some alternate dimension than some super spooky creepy pasta deep lore game. I really like a lot of the music too, it goes well with the dreary tone that the whole thing has and can be downloaded on Bandcamp. The fact that you can play the game also elevates it way above all the other """ARG""" slop that people make.

already happened once even tho the main guy behind it gave a very throughout explanation as to why he had to do it and MA is already leagues ahead of most other analogs by virtue of not looking like complete shit. One can only wonder the kind of autism being Wenditurfed will do to one of the truly good analogs.

Imagine having this hard of a hateboner for AI. I've been at gigs in which the implication was they could use AI to replace me and I didn't give two fucks even tho I'm not some big name getting jobs on name alone. AI is pretty much forced down our tools anyway (Adobe for example) and even at its best it can never do things consistently enough to be a threat, that's because AI isn't a replacement is a fucking tool that's there to even or tweak shit out.

Have you noticed how much of a hassle is to get one of those AI voice bots to deliver lines with the same emotion between sentences? Or how is almost impossible to ask for a slightly different angle of the fake model you created? AI isn't the problem, is the bubble around it and the grifters that are forcing it are. AI is like the rise of the alt-right into Hitler 2.0, I'm sure if I ask my former teachers they will give me examples of what was going to kill their careers when they were my age.

I know, and the response made all of those maniacs shut up immediately because we understand that it is either that or no series, and as we care about the series, we can put personal gripes aside. Now it is gonna be chock-full of newbies that didn't care about the show until a big Youtuber made a video on it, and I hope that they don't become so unhinged as to reignite that nonsense.

I understand why, on principle, these people oppose AI, it is stealing their work yada yada, plagiarism yada yada, souless yada yada. But these are also individuals who oversell their abilities massively, most of their "art" is generic, derivative, and very uncreative, it is basically the "OC Do not steal" of the 2020s, and if a guy whose whole repertoire consists of fan arts of shows and characters that are barely any different from the source, then I'm really gonna doubt of the artistic value of those drawings.

If only the fallen @Slav Power understood this, he would be still be among us

Most of these are the same dogshit that rigidly follow the formula of "Unedited footage of a person walking around playing old minecraft, but ooooh there's a spooky black supernatural figure that they somehow fail to notice is stalking them in Minecraft of all things. They're also being stalked by admins who hide in an evil headquarters that's IN MINECRAFT when a skype call could probably be ten times more efficient and more secure." that gets its 15 minutes of fame by being lazily recapped by the horror youtuber of the week.

Lilypad is pretty fucking cool, though. I love the dreary, more fantasy Twilight Forest-like atmosphere that timeline's version of Minecraft took.
On top of that, some of them do go above and beyond with trying to sell that these were recorded back in 2010-2013 as you can see a person's desktop running Windows 7/vista and having shit like Skype and old program logos installed instead of using their modern iterations.
I'm a big fan of when they actually make the desktop and UI period-accurate, too. Especially when analogue horror never bothers trying to make you believe this is something you could reasonably find on an old vhs, even the good series' aren't really the type of thing you could imagine finding in your grandma's attic, while digital horror, (god I wish everyone would stop all this analogue digital stuff and just call fucking creepypasta again, that's literally what it is.) when done right is totally something you could picture seeing years ago on some kid's youtube channel or left behind on an old hard drive, then coming back to be like "Wait, that was pretty fucking weird."

...It's also just because I really liked Windows 7.

Been listening the the "Lighthouse horror" for the past few days. There like a creepypasta story channel but good imo. A lot of their stories revolve around following rules in whatever horror setting it is and my tism likes when rules are followed. I recommend them as their not to cringe and each video is around the 30 minute mark

I am actually suprised that Wendigoon hasn't seen Death Note (the death row inmate body double scene in MA is lifted from that anime). It seems right up his alley:
  • Biblical imagery
  • Demons
  • Convoluted mind games that he can go "Aww that is so smart/cool!" to.
He honestly does not strike me as an anime type of guy.

I enjoyed this episode of the podcast though, I think watching videos suits their format and derailing much better. So much less painful than last week's episode.

Lighthouse Horror isn't bad, but his voice and pronunciation of "room" irks me somehow - not much, but enough to notice.

For those liking creepypasta story channels, I got some more recommendations:
  • Jordan Grupe Horror: Decent production value, no grating voice and he even writes his own stories
  • Dr. Nosleep Podcast: Pretty good production value to a point, it almost sounds like an audio play
  • The Dark Somnium: Soothing voice and he writes his own (background) music
  • MrBlackPasta: Very high production value - even higher than Dr. NoSleep. Unfortunately, he hasn't uploaded in a while, but he says he'll be back. He also has a true crime channel, but I haven't checked it out yet

For some reason, both this and the Dr. Bosch New Vegas series having some actually modded in "what ifs" really tickles my autism, i think one of my favorite aspects of the whole autistic lost media scene is when people recreate the more lost shit out of passion, and people taking the care to think of something wacky for a "what if" for something relatively more simpler like a videogame intrigues me for some reason. Its like restoring cut or beta content but its entirely new shit thats usually created out of the pure passion or imagination of someone, this has chances of being shit, but when its competent for some reason i find it fascinating

Anyone here followed or is following the Interloper series? It's another one of those Gmod/Source horror series, but it's pretty well made and the idea is original. However, it got very convoluted and lost some of the scary factor after the creator used his OC to give a "presentation" on the findings. Still kind of interesting.

Pretty sure he's just not an amime guy. I know he's been asked about One Piece on live stream, and he's on record of not being interested.
