General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

A bit late, but I want to point two things out in regards to rigging. First would be that some vtubers are probably just a bit expressionless autists. As much as I don't care for her, I always thought that Shylily's model or she herself is very expressive, to the point of exaggeration even at times. She talks about the emotionlessness problem in this clip:
She also mentions adjusting some parameters herself, which probably helps as, hypothetically, a model made by the most slit-for-eyes asian rigger that uses himself for testing would probably not make for a good model for a european.
Also, apparently she got a 2.0 model like 5 months ago:

The second point relates to people saying that some are still using older models. A few weeks ago I had a tiny look into Live2D Cubism, which is the software used to create 2D models, as I was interested in it and still haven't deleted it. Since Null did mention the mouth, these are the default parameters for the mouth if you want to create a new model:

That's all of them, there is also a cheek puffing parameter, but I wouldn't count that. You can of course add custom parameters, that your face tracking then has to support, but I would atleast guess that for older face tracking software and older/cheaper models that this is also all they had/have, since it is considered the default by now.
From what I know about L2D models, basically every single bit that moves has to have 'bones' that connect to every other piece next to it.
A lot is done through parameters that have keyframes to deform the 2D meshes, especially most things related to the face. In the case of physics you can maybe argue that the subdivided sections of the pendulum simulation counts as bones, albeit deferred as they are still not directly attached to the model itself and are moved by parameters and also just move their attached parameters. Example of a pendulum simulation:

A good example of the pilot determining a lot about the model behavior is when Selen and Pomu swapped models.

Regular Selen/Pomu for comparison:

Selen's eyes are wider than they ever were when she piloted the model (lol chinese,) and Pomu manages to even have the trademark Selen/Dokibird smugness, which evidently isn't a feature of her models.

Anyway yeah, rigging does a lot for a model but if the person using it isn't animated the thing isn't going to animate.

Remember when Gura got that really bad face rigging job? And she literally looked like a paper plate with eyes and mouth attached? Good times, good times...

Just further confirmation she listens to or watches MATI. Or there's people informing her whenever she gets mentioned, which is more likely.

I guess Pippa had a woman moment giving this place a shout out.
-People on twitter are still rediscovering the wheel on Froots drama.
-kiwifarms is still rediscovering the wheel with multiple pippa doxx threads.
-Youtube is still rediscovering the wheel with Nyanners past life videos.
This forum just needs new material on vtubers even saying the same joke 5 times to someone you know will tell you to shut up.
