The Holden Bloodfeast meme making fun of John McCain is the most prominent example, but there absolutely was a time when the Repub establishment was just as psychotic and war-hungry as the Dems. That's where that 2003 vote to invade Iraq (that both sides would really prefer you all forgot about) came from. There was a time, during an era foundational to many people's political development, where Neocons were the only part of the Right our generation knew.

It's only when you zoom out further that you realize that the Neocons were always just a symptom of a bigger problem, and if there's one thing the Donald did right it's cut right across that shit. You have dejected former Dems, oldschoolers from the Buchanan Brigade and McGovernites, and even newcomers from the left, right, and center - all of them ending up in Trump's camp, all united by a desire for change and to see the establishment suffer for what it's done.
