Also, it’s got to be painful at her size to move. The human body is not meant for extreme thinness or obesity. And even if she lost the weight, the damage is already done to her joints. That cannot be undone. The hips and knees are under tremendous pressure and have been for decades.

Agreed on addiction. If you can get addicted to food you can get addicted to anything.

I don’t think opioid addiction is easy these day, even 10 years ago during Jackson’s time things were not as sophisticated. These days you’d need a crooked doc AND pharmacy as pharmacies report every prescription to the government, and the doc has to log into the DEA with every prescription they write. Pharmacies certainly feel they can withhold meds if they think you are taking too much. Switching pharmacies doesn’t help as they are mostly connected and using multiple pharmacies flags you. Lots of smaller pharmacies don’t even carry the heavy hitters like OxyContin anymore, you have to go to Walgreens or a national chain for those.

Oncologists, orthopedists, spine surgeons, they all will give you a starting dose of meds and if you need refills or have a chronic condition you go to pain management, which is an anesthesiology sub-speciality. Metokur even mentioned it on a recent stream, it humbles him when he goes every month because he sees people worse off than him. I’m sure Anna is in pain, as most deathfats are. Her doctor could write her a referral for pain management, and she could have opioids that way for sure, if they decided she needed them. But I think Anna would use that to justify her surgeries and she hasn’t so I don’t think she’s doing it.

I’m sure it still happens-corrupt finds corrupt, where there is a will there is a way, but it’s much much rarer than it used to be for regular people. I’m sure a billionaire can get whatever they want. I feel you have to be pretty sophisticated now to keep an addiction going through legit prescriptions and Anna is not.

With weed being legalized/decriminalized most places, seems like that would be a choice.
