I always see people compare Brave New World and 1984 trying to debate which got it right when I feel the one that actually got it right is Fahrenheit 451. In it, Ray Bradbury precisely predicts our exact society. Everyone decides to ban books because they were politically incorrect and insulting, instead reading comic books and watching wall screens with interactive programming or listening to music through thimble sized radios in their ears. There is no community, and people barely know their neighbors, so they don't care when they die from an overdose or get run over at 120mph. Everyone is unhappy, but they can't bear to face the reasons why (their friends are dying and they're on the verge of nuclear destruction), so they turn to heroin and pills. People rarely have children, not because it's discouraged, but mostly because couples don't actually love each other. There isn't a totalitarian government like in Brave New World or 1984, in fact, all we know is the government here is incompetent, and the firemen and medics are implied to be private authorities. Despite books being banned, some firemen appear to be well read, but it only reaffirms their belief that it would be a waste of time, offensive, and unwanted by the normal person. The nuclear holocaust is inevitable after all, there's no use worrying about it-- except for Montag, this is what ended up saving his life. The moral is that reality (inconvenient truths, negative emotions, etc.) hurts, but we can't lock ourselves away from it or we will lose the critical thinking, empathy, clarity, and drive that makes us human.Between Brave New World and 1984, Huxley was the one to get it right with Brave New World - people are more controlled by hedonism instead of totalitarian governments. Also consider things which Huxley talks about in that book:
I've seen Brave New World listed on a Libertarian reading list, but I would say it's more Reactionary than Libertarian given its themes and since Huxley mentions nothing about gun rights, he does not support recreational drug use, there is nothing in the novel about taxes, etc.
- Increase in secularization in first world nations
- People using pharmaceutical drugs which makes them more susceptible to brainwashing and hedonism
- Children being dragged into inappropriate acts
- Having a traditional family is shameful (the scene where John meets his father, and everyone in the room thinks it's a joke until the latter runs out of the room)
- People mass consuming TV and movies
- Widespread pornography
- Non-NPCs are ostracized (certain characters being exiled out of the society at the end because they do not fit in)
- NPCs in general are uncomfortable when someone like John shows up, someone who is against everything the masses stand for and does not take part in the nonsense or fall for it
Also got the rubiconcrossing of lolcow pandora trump.Translation: The CIA just issued a threat on Donald Trump.
There, I fixed it.
If 60,000 people had died on September 11th I think yeah the US would have taken it a lot harder than it did with 3,000He actually said it was like "20 9/11's in one day".
When he said that all I can hear was the characters from Team America
"20 911s? But that's..."
"Yes!"
"18,220"
It's a weird mind-set to even come up with it. Yes, it's an obnoxious and tasteless thing to say in and of itself. Particularly when a guest in the country that suffered it. But he actually calculated it based on relative population size. It's as if he thinks the number of people who died in 9/11 is less of a tragedy than if the same number die in Israel. What am I talking about with my "as if he..." Of course he thinks it's less of a tragedy.
60,000 people die of all sorts of thing every year. If you were alive at the time, the wall to wall 9/11 stuff was non-stop. Politicians, Celebrities, Musician tributes, advertisements, donation drives. And keep in mind I was in Australia. I imagine you Americans got that x10. It was the spectacle, the marketing. If 60,000 people had died on September 11th I think yeah the US would have taken it a lot harder than it did with 3,000
The original plan in 1993 was to kill tens of thousands by taking down the towers in the middle of the day, not the morning, and instantly, with no time to evacuate people

The 60.000 are spread out over a long time though, all across the country, and usually don't die from something dramatic like a skyscraper blowing up or a plane crash into the pentagon.60,000 people die of all sorts of thing every year. Is he stepping aside to save democracy, or is the race to save democracy? Either way it's insane CNN can have such a headline.View attachment 6232913
CNN is reporting that Biden saved Democracy.
I'm offended by the woman's phrasing. That weird leading "So I guess you won't be convinced to vote for a first woman president". When there is a woman president that is fairly elected, that will be a moment worth noting in history, but it's not some kind of elementary school program where you go "Well none of the girls have had a chance yet, let's have then try next."This is an all-female focus group from Wisconsin and it's on MSNBC! Tell me again how Kamala is winning anything?
"She's an idiot!"

This seems like a fun conversation to me but probably not fitting for this thread so I'll simply say that when I said they have to support Israel I didn't mean monetarily, I meant like their position has to be pro-Israel.There is very few mentions of a modern Israel except in discussion of the End Times, and certainly nothing to support it. In fact God has actively said that in Jews rejecting Christ they were blinded and had to find Him once again. Which aligns with the fact that Jews and Muslims are the spirit of the Antichrist. Paul even said that not all of those who are Jewish are of Israel. And in regards to Evangelicals specifically, Martin Luther hated the Jews, as one of if not his last work before death directly advocated for the death of Jews, saying “we are at fault for not slaying them earlier”. This was after a lifetime of attempting to peacefully convert them to Christ and advocating for better conditions. If we were to support Israel in a Christian way, we would do so by shipping Bibles and peacefully mediating between them and the Palestinians. Who we would also give Bibles to. And if we were to provide financial support to any group in Israel, it would be the persecuted minority of Christian Isrealites.
Bill and his love of women is both timeless and funny. If only he didn't rape the ones who didn't fall for his silver tongue.Bill at a funeral:

You say that like the men wouldn't vote for Mr Awesome Lumberjack too.you could convince them to vote for someone just by that person being a decent looking guy with ads that are just him chopping wood while wearing an unbuttoned shirt.
When have we not had premarital sex? You actually believe that no one had premarital sex untill 1969?
Ways abortion can be an issue for monogamous and celibate people:
- a monogamous, married couple finds out at 24 weeks that their baby has potter's syndrome, they would prefer to terminate instead of going through 16 more weeks of pregnancy to birth a baby that will die painfully after 20 minutes. This
- a monogamous, married couple finds out that the woman is pregnant, but can't financially support another child
- a monogamous, married woman gets pregnant but is 41 years old, and feels like a geriatric pregnancy would be too risky
- monogamy and marriage are no guarantee against birth control failure
- married, monogamous women, and celibate women, can be raped and impregnated
Marriage and monogamy aren't magical shields that make it so nothing bad or unplanned ever happens to you. Married couples and people who are celibate don't benefit from the government trying to restrict abortion.
That's retarded, stop being retarded. 60,000 people don't die on a single day of being murdered in one event. 60,000 would have been the greatest one day death toll from war in American history by far, and 99.99% of it civilians. Bush wouldn't have been making no speeches about go to the mall and keep living your lives if it were 60,000. Instead it would've been buy war bonds, save for the 90% war taxes, and get ready for the draft60,000 people die of all sorts of thing every year. I don't think the DNC even knows what the F is happening at the moment.Do we have actual confirmation that the DNC is not going to allow a open convention?
I know there are rumours that the virtual vote will be 100% rubber stamp but has any DNC talking head made a statement?

Tabloids will tabloid. The worst of journalism but you inject it with vulture and rat DNA.Not only is this mega haram, it's also extreme bad taste. Kids of presidents aren't normally given any publicity unless directly related to current policy or political matters like Hunter's case.
DU isn't talking about it at all. They're too busy falling in line -- plus asserting that the GOP is totes scared, that it's all over bar the counting, and that Trump wasn't shot but only got hit by a tiny piece of glass.Do we have actual confirmation that the DNC is not going to allow a open convention?
