Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

It's mostly Epic being very bare bones and lacking basic features like a basket or wishlist. Even online storefronts run by comically incompetent companies like Ubisoft or EA have those.

Them snapping up exclusives also rubs people the wrong way but it's mostly the actual tech being shit and unintuitive.
I mostly just fucking hate having six different stores and launchers in my PC.

Nigger, do you seriously think valve is not in bed with the chinese government too? They have their own version of steam ffs

Option 1: Valve makes a separate Chinese Steam client.

Result: Things continue as they have been.

Option 2: Valves make a singular, worldwide client.

Result: Everything has to be censored to the lowest common denominator (China) and shits up Steamworks servers with cheating slants with shit Internet connections even more than they already are.

Option 3: Valve refuses to make a China-approved client.

Result: Aforementioned cheating slants with shit Internet connections are now also pissbabies because a foreign company dares not to bow to their faggot country and goes out of their way to be assholes, as shown in Steam reviews in any game that is vaguely anti-China in any way.

~~~
Out of those three options, which would you rather have?
Nah, controls maybe bad and Japans output was not great but there are a ton of good Wii games, certainly a lot more good games than the N64. Capcom and Nintendo were in top form on the Wii.
Mario Galaxy is bottom tier Mario, Skyward Sword is bottom tier Zelda, Revolution is bottom tier Pokemon, Brawl is bottom tier SSB, etc. Nintendo was definitely not in top form. Were they bad games, no, but definitively a step down from GC and N64.
It's also when they started skipping franchises like Star Fox & F-Zero. Wii certainly had good games, but even its good games were often shittier versions of what came before.
N64 actually had a really nice D-pad that was completely squandered.
Pretty much. I can't think of many good games that used it. People swear by Mischief Makers but you'll be hard pressed to find a less appealing looking game, visually. I think Killer Instinct 2 used it. I can't remember if Kirby 64 did or not, I feel like it didn't for some stupid reason. Beyond that all I can think of is minigames that utilized it.
I think Punch-Out is the best game that's just going to be stuck on Wii forever.
Same for Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, the last good Fire Emblem game.
It's been 10 years
Yet Valve "Do nothing, wins." strategy could work. I'm thinking Win 10 will by my last windows OS. And this isn't "I'm moving to Canada if my team loses the election." type childish trantrum either. I'm someone who didn't think Vista was that bad. I've heard nothing but bad things about Win 11 and it seems like MS has no interest in turning it around. I'll hold on to Win 10 as long as I can, but I might have to go Linux eventually.
a far more welcoming attitude toward aspiring indies without the unfiltered heap of garbage that steam has pretty much always been.
I'm guessing you're about 12, because I remember the "handshake club" days of Steam where every indie was screaming bloody murder because your games success were determined entirely on if you had the connections to get a game on Steam. Once Valve opened the doors, they were happy ...for about 5 minutes when they suddenly discovered that being on Steam was no longer a guarantee of success and have been trying to put the genie back in the bottle ever since.
It's very barebones and boring. In fact, the whole Switch UI is very barebones and boring. I honestly thought it was unfinished and rushed to market when it was new, and then they just haven't really done anything new with it.
Craziest thing is they have a themes section where you can select which you like...between two options, black and white, I think. They could've easily made more colors and even sold home-based themes, but for some reason never did a thing.
3DS and Vita had personality, Switch is only slightly less sterile and boring and gay (probably literally) than PS4 & PS5, which is disappointing.
But you know, as I'm writing this, I'm thinking it's a good thing. The alternative is risking getting official Nintendo Pride Month themes...
Tripping was an incredibly shitty mechanic but overall it felt like the most fun SSB. The story mode was also far more enjoyable than it had any right to be.
I should reemphasize it wasn't a bad game, just the worst in a good series. It had possibly the best single player content, but it's dead last for multiplayer imo, and it isn't even close. That's how bad tripping is, and it's a multiplayer centric game at the end of the day, so it's detrimental to its replay value.
It sucked a lot but it was tolerable at the end of the day. The amount of seethe it caused to competitive fags as the developers were fucking with the game just to tell Meleephiles to fuck off from their party game made it worth it. That alone puts it at like "honorable mention" status in terms of awards. Kind of like how every boss in the new Elden Ring DLC immediately charges you the moment you pass the fog gate just because the devs were spiteful about Comet Azur fags.
It didn't stop competitive play anyway, just made it gay and unfun for everyone. Literally nobody liked it.
I'll also never get the competitive play hate, nobody's putting a gun to anyone's head to make them 1v1 Fox at Final Destination without items. Though I almost always played like that with my friends we'd sometimes put Pokeballs on and set it to high drops. You can play how you want, that's a good thing.
I know what it is but I personally have not owned a Nintendo product since the Gamecube when I was a kid so I can't speak from personal experience as to how shitty it is.
It is about 15 years behind the competition.
> No basket (Epic games got it last year)
> Slow and clunky interface, legitimately faster to browse deku deals on your phone and then use search function to buy games one by one
> No shop music unlike previous iterations
> $60 for a 10 year old game on front page
> $0.99 for AI generated Hentai Slide-puzzle shovelware on top deals page (good luck finding good games :) )
> No refunds pendejo
> Wanna redownload a game? Lol. Lmao even. Here's a shitty list laid out vertically. Happy scrolling.
Navigating the system configuration screen on my PS2 was a much more enjoyable experience and all you could do on that was adjust the clock.
I don't get all the hate around Epic Game Store. It mostly feels like valve's PR team trying to stifle the competition on a far less invasive installer that doesn't have chickenshit forum moderators running rampant banning paying customers and a far more welcoming attitude toward aspiring indies without the unfiltered heap of garbage that steam has pretty much always been. Since they have every motivation to do so.
>inb4 "BUH MUH CHINA! MUH PRIVACIES!"
Nigger, do you seriously think valve is not in bed with the chinese government too? They have their own version of steam ffs and there is literally a chinese game dev event going on right now on steam. They have several of them every year and even celebrate chinese new year every year. While Epic does none of this shit and keeps things to a language human beings use: English.
All Epic does is what exactly? free games every week that mostly aren't shovelware garbage? Unlimited access to a game engine that isn't gutted of anything useful to learn from like Unity is? Seriously. What the fuck is so bad about this launcher? These hypocrite niggers shouting this anti epic bullshit always have the most cluttered up desktops with a trillion other launchers installed anyway including DISCORD and discord is more of an invasive spyware than Epic Game Store ever was. Discordniggers have no leg to stand on when bitching about percieved spyware.
Americans only endorse free market when it means deregulating their own kike owned corporate monopolies. When a true competitor actually shows up with an alternative product they start screaming at congress to ban them plz and spend millions in propaganda to smear them. It used to be exactly like this with Japanese stuff too,
Wasn't the issue with Epic Game Store that it was backed by Chinese company Tencent and that led to a lot of paranoia about data harvesting or security issues or something?
No its the poaching games that were already being made as "exclusives". I missed out on the first year of hitman 3 content. Had to wait 3 years for kingdom hearts, tons of big indie sequels were a year late. And lets not forget the cancer that is fortnite.
As a straight fighting game, Smash has always been lacking mechanically when compared to Tekken or Soul Caliber. That's why item drops are so essential to Smash; they introduce weapons that change the power and abilities of characters in chaotic ways. 4 player battles also introduce more chaos and suddenly skill level isn't as important. The chaos is what makes the game fun and it's fighting game autists that insist Smash be played like any other fighting game.
