The tragedy of the TotalBiscuit Incident, and indeed, almost every related attack involved with it, is that thanks to the CON Log Leaks and Trello Leaks, we know for sure why it was done.
Quinn's clique and its orbiters in the various Rat Kings had one overriding fear that was well-founded: That if Gamergate could potentially catch on with the rest of the Internet, they were fucked. This is the reason they threw
everything at shutting it down.
Any tolerance of GG was thus to be considered the equivalent of declaring your support for the Islamic state (which may or may not be why so many Anti-GGers compared GG to ISIS). Journalists had to be blacklisted. Game devs silenced. Anything that could let GG have a platform, or even get a word in edgewise
had to be destroyed.
To give an example of just how insane things got, Boogie was attacked, banned from multiple sites, and told to
denounce Gamergate, or else. Anyone they could get their hooks into, they did. And the message was clear: declare Gamergate to be great Satan, or prepare to be unpersoned. This shit was everywhere, and shows just how insane this mess was.
This entire fucking thing, all the provable corruption, all centered around keeping a bunch of nerds from having a voice about their own fucking hobby, and preventing a few absolute bastards from facing the consequences of their actions.
Years of fucking Wikipedia sperging and
an organized attempt to make sure that the only narrative you could find on Gamergate being "It's about harassment of women because Zoe Quinn" the de-facto explanation of it. All the destroyed careers, all the harassment directed at people, and all of it because of "muh narrative." A narrative that everyone knew was a crock, but got pushed anyway, because fuck you all, the comfort of a few shitheads who have accomplished fuck all means more than literally everyone else.
