UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

with every news story that comes out of that God forsaken isle i believe this more and more thoroughly.

the ""British"" government is begging for a civil war at this point.
Just wanna point out the Zelda keyring case was linked to a dude who has been to prison multiple times for violent assault and is a known piece of shit. Yes excessive I'm not disagreeing but the dude was a thug who caused problems often. So that example is dumb. However I'm not siding with UK police. They're cunts who protect nonces. Just some info

@Train Operator what is telling to me is how they handled this. They waited until after the protest to arrest him. They, like the cowards they are, waited until he was alone to get him just like any harmless native. It shows that they're too dickless to tackle large crowds like the mudslimes.

I'll be quietly watching the rest of this fold out in the background. I expect more protests from the natives because now they've been shown how much it scares the bobbies.

And today Tommy Robinson has been arrested* under the Terrorism Act [ X ], reportedly for screening his own banned documentary at yesterday's event.

I know very little about Tommy Robinson and he could be an opportunist grifter for all I know, but it sure is starting to look like he's a persecuted unfavorable. Which is to say: regardless the truth of the matter, the silly fuckers are building the man his own legend.

ETA: There is a protest on Downing Street, currently being livestreamed here.

* ETA 2: The Met deny it [ X ]. Quite the puzzler.

ETA 3: This posted yesterday suggests otherwise [ X ]. The social media monkeys must not be in the loop.

This is getting fucking old. Shame it will never stop, as Britons are far too neutered and passive and polite to ever revolt. Those who still fly the colors of St. George should start playing the knockout game with the rainbow police, fr fr no cap.

INB4 we get flooded with yanks telling us how our country works.

Tommy Robinson is made up to be the devil by the left and a hero by the right. He's neither, he's just 'The White Van Man' (hopefully people will understand that reference from The Sun). He's just an aggregate of white, working-class, middle-aged men. You go to a building site up north and 99% of the workers will have those views.

He's been charged.

If what Tommy is saying can be confirmed then jesus fucking christ this is bleak.
Yes, I have, but it doesn’t matter, because under this terrorism legislation I have no right to remain silent. If I do not answer their questions I am breaking the law.
Fucking hell, England is a fucking joke.

I can't find any source that says he was arrested under the Terrorism Act other than his own twitter account. It's more likely he was arrested for breaking a legal injunction, which wouldn't be unusual for him since he's been in prison about 20 times for everything from mortgage fraud to using a fake passport.

He's just an opportunistic scumbag, and no martyr.

Brit here, yes we are fucking disgraceful as a country and that won't change, servile wretches to a man, if our ancestors had any spine they would have gone to the new world all those years ago, I'm of French descent so I don't give a toss what you think of 'us'.

These people have clearly never heard of the Streisand effect though, just made this documentary a must see.

When you are being arrested, typically you are told what act you are being arrested under.
And I suppose you're on the pro gang-rape side of the equation.

I seen people say that he encouraged to break up a tranny parade or something of the sort and that led to the arrest, so it wasn't entirely about the documentary. Also highly likely that trannies are trying to insert themselves into another happening, which I am more inclined to believe personally.
