A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

It's pretty likely though. It was the Terrorism Act that they used to arrest Lauren Southern when she visited the UK. The UK Terrorism Act was brought in under the Blair government and then further tweaked over the years. It drove a railroad through a lot of traditional legal protections such as Right to Remain Silent, holding without charge and more. Along with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) which was also justified on grounds of fighting terrorism (and then used by councils to arrest people for dog poo), it's a nice catch-all do what we want process is the punishment set of laws for the Establishment to use on anyone they don't like.

Last I heard, Lauren Southern is still banned from British shores.

I remember that one and no he didn't. The court had rendered their verdict, he was outside reporting (and glad someone was because the Establishment tries to bury anything to do with rape gangs in the UK) and the names of the defendants had previously been published in a newspaper. It was used to try and get him but he didn't jeopardise anything. When people bring this one up it immediately casts doubt on anything else they might say. It's the equivalent of the "very fine people" thing with Trump.

We all want someone better to lead this stuff but anybody who tries would immediately lose their job. If they owned a business it might be trickier but their partner would lose their job, authorities would start poking around to try and get something to use on you. Any regular normal person who said the things Tommy Robinson did publicly would be exiled from polite society. That leaves you with the people who don't depend on polite society to begin with to pick from. And even there, there aren't many people who would endure the being arrested, imprisoned and everything else. Last time they put him in prison they housed him with Islamist inmates seemingly in the hopes they'd kill him the same way they did to that guy they imprisoned for hanging a strip of bacon on a mosque door handle.

Yep. Pretty much. But it's like being excommunicated in medieval times. A modern person hears that and thinks "oh, you can't go to Church". Sure, but it's also get a job, walk down the street safely, get treated fairly by the police. I remember when a bunch of Antifa guys in balaclavas jumped Tommy - police were seemingly fine with it.

We don’t like to use words like nigger because they can be derogatory and can hurt people’s feelings so we like to use the word “scholar”, “doctor”, “scientist” or “cultural enriches”.

I will provide it in a sentence “oh look that scholar is mugging that old lady”, “look at that cultural enricher trying to harass those little school girls” and “all these doctors that keep coming from France is going to rescue the NHS”.

As for Muslims it’s always the racist police stopping them from grooming girls. For some reason police officers like to run into the closed first of Muslim men’s hands; this is why police always apologise to the Muslims even after they were having consensual sex with passed out girls.

I hope you learnt something today and be less racist because when the Muslims are being harassed by police after giving a young girl alcohol or a scholar is teaching the locals how the skin and cook a cat you will thank me and be less racist.

It was leaked that he's an Irish citizen and apparently claimed he was born there too when he travelled to Canada. Just an extra piece of hypocrisy from him.

The Irish know what's up. Call this a fedpost if you must but nothing will change so long as we're not burning down the hotels that house migrants and the busses that bring them in. If some Gypos and Brownoids can set Leeds on fire and the police do nothing we just need to do the same but in numbers. And do the same if one of us gets arrested on pathetic trumped up charges. Then the Government might get fearful enough to remember who they're supposed to serve.

But our pathetic middle class despite everything is still too comfortable in their gated countryside communites. So I doubt anything will change and they'll still call the white working class evil thick benefit scrounging gammon and simp for the EU.

He's a British citizen with family here. He will obviously return for any court obligations. In anycase I'm struggling to see what any of this has to do with him releasing footage of school teachers who have signed NDA's, showing the local council and MSM manufactured a race baiting narrative, potentially ruining a school boy's life?

Most normal people hear something like this and think "shit, maybe there's actually something disgusting going on here?" But for whatever reason you're trying to throw as much shit into the conversation as possible to draw the conclusion away from that?

This is why I give the benefit of the doubt to crass, imperfect, or even grifter-ish types (to the extent they need some alternative way to make a living). People can be imperfect but still effective, and we can support the good they do without worshipping them.

Ann Coulter, Donald Trump, Jordan Peterson, Sargon of Akkad...all moved the Overton Window by touching live wires the average Joe couldn't without facing ruin. Instead of demanding ideological purity, we can take what's useful, and if they turn out to be frauds or just wrong on other things, move on.

Chris Rufo may have incorrect views, but I'm not going to deny or ignore the real-world victories he's notched against Globohomo.

Stabbing in Southport. 8 injured including children.

Nothing further officially reported but locals saying a Muslim went into a Taylor Swift yoga and dance workshop for kids and started stabbing. Locals say one child has died.

Southport used to have a Pontins - rough as fuck holiday park. Ideal to house migrants.
