UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I'm not sure how civil war would work in the UK. Its citizens are unarmed. Even knives are regulated. Riots and street brawls would play directly into the hands of the State, which would portray the protesters as far-Right extremist thugs (see J6), giving the State the excuse to crack down even harder. Non-violent resistance, which would mean essentially surrendering yourself to the State for incarceration, would only save the State the trouble of hunting you down. Workers at all class levels could try a nationwide strike, but any sustained period of depressed economic activity would hurt the people more than the government.

There is a way, of course, but I won't go into that here.
When it comes to weapons: crossbows. I say this unironically.

Bows and crossbows aren't exactly hard to get, and crossbow laws are under urgent review after three women were killed by one recently. People have also been sent to hospital in ornamental sword/katana attacks.

Guns are an effective weapon, but not the only weapon.

Fair enough. But in all likelihood the ratio of criminals in your native society will probably be identical to the percentages )or actually higher versus an imported one) of an imported society because they are vetted to a degree citizens are not.

So probably Your immigrants are less criminal. Ergo, if you are unhappy with even a lower rate of crime from immigrants, then you are talking about shutting down your border.

If you can live with that, shut it down. But it will come with extreme consequences.
You are either the dumbest motherfucker on this website or the greatest troll on the internet.
How are boat people coming in illegally, vetted?

Think, you fucking retard.

And today Tommy Robinson has been arrested* under the Terrorism Act [ X ], reportedly for screening his own banned documentary at yesterday's event.

I know very little about Tommy Robinson and he could be an opportunist grifter for all I know, but it sure is starting to look like he's a persecuted unfavorable. Which is to say: regardless the truth of the matter, the silly fuckers are building the man his own legend.

ETA: There is a protest on Downing Street, currently being livestreamed here.

* ETA 2: The Met deny it [ X ]. Quite the puzzler.

Context? Who is Tommy Robinson? What's the documentary even about?

Oh god, the timing. Just the other week, the BBC ran a "we're totally open and transparent" story about the fact that his wages went up by 40k last year. It honestly felt like they were rubbing it in.

There's a lot more guns out there than you think, plus they have a habit of turning up en masse once these sorts of conflicts kick off. There's also plenty of people in northern ireland who know a thing or two about making splodey sticks and rooty-tooty point'n'shooties. Any civil war in the UK would be a highly asymmetric, multi-party affair, likely with relatively little intervention by the military, as it is very likely the rank and file would mutiny and divide along ethnic lines. The police, of all people, would probably end up as the enforcement arm of the rump state.

Are there any niggers over there trying to etablish a caliphate and sharia law, or are they just content with being absolutetly worthless criminals? This is important.

Nah the niggers are far too busy stabbing each other over who can sell crack on which London corner and working on their aspiring rap careers to be worrying about anything spiritual.

Well can think of a couple of ways as well, but so as I don’t met post, let’s keep it non violent and simple.
Civil disobedience would be possible. The police and the armed forces are small in number and as we saw with big demonstrations the police cannot keep control.
It stops when enough people say no. During Covid I was coerced, threatened with losing my job and all sorts of pressure and I still said no. If enough other people had also said no it would have stopped far before it did. Not even 100%. Simply refusing to participate or go along with bullshit is the single things that EVERYONE can do. Practically? Don’t mince your words or censor yourself. Politely speak your mind. Don’t have your words changed by them. A man is not a woman, there are too many migrants. Do not agree, do not comply. Stop bending over. Don’t spend money with places that hate you. One person doing it, unless they’re high profile, is nothing. Forty million doing it things will change
@BULLY HUNTER_78 wr are only 25 or so years since the Good Friday agreement. Up till 1998 the Uk WAS in a state of civil war. Most of the participants are still alive (they mainly moved to the Costas and started doing drug trade stuff, but they’re still there.) the UK government caved to them, non violence did not prevail.

Shit, how many people associated with the BBC have been pedophiles?
Turns out "BBC" stands for "boy-buggering collective".

Found the article about Huw's wages. Six days ago. They go to great lengths to point out that he resigned. Maybe they were laying the groundwork to distance the corporation from him in advance of the charges being filed?

edit: And Labour just scrapped the winter fuel payment for anyone who isn't on other benefits. That's the next tory election campaign sorted already and it's only been a month.

Was about to say similar, although pretty much all firearms are outlawed with the exception of shotguns and a very small amount of rifles (both needing extensive checks and a licence) the ira and Protestants managed to acquire plenty of them, even to the extent of the ira taking on the British army for year's.
It's not hard to imagine people finding a way to participate in an armed civil war but it's hard to imagine English people having enough incentive to sacrifice their life to starting it in the first place.
Unless your name starts with Muhammed the moment you started fighting back against the uk government they'd shut you down in an instant.

Can brits explain to me what this guy does?

No. I think it makes sense to treat guns like cars, where you have to show some level of proficiency and responsibility before being allowed to own one.
As far as I'm concerned you should be able to own a non-repeating firearm without any kind of license or permit, and for anything spicier you just have to be a member of a shooting club for a certain length of time.

But you're forgetting to account for the fact that buggering off to England to abuse the benefits system only appeals to a certain kind of person, and they're not the kind who'll be missed back home.

This is a local thread for local people, there's nothing for you here.

Vetted? They’re not vetted at all. They come in on boats, destroy their documents and we have absolutely no idea who they are. They say they’re under 18 when they’re in their thirties. Vetted? You are kidding.

Tommy believed he was in good graces with power after he made the "Mark Collett is an anti semite" documentary.
He didn't make that documentary. He sliced and diced an episode of Dispatches called "Young, Nazi, and Proud" (I looked it up) and put his own "clever" captions in between the parts.

No, he's just the retard @Menotaur, king of smug word-salad posting, who got so stressed about people disagreeing with him on KF that he had a heart attack. He likes to be contrarian, but can't get past his own self-regard to do it properly.
