What sucks even more is that by nature most cops WANT to help. They'd love to step in and stop abusers, rapists, etc.

But places like Chicago and Baltimore put them in prison for making any decision that includes violence. They make it very clear that the cops can interfere and go to prison OR just take reports of crimes. Those wastelands have made the "no duty to protect individuals" into policy. I'd much rather live in a city where the cops are rewarded for stopping criminals and fired/prosecuted for not stopping them. That's not a pass for shitty cops but there shouldn't be a pass for shitty DAs either.
