Doesn’t help that most chains are priced at about the same as a normal resturant. So unless you are going to a stared resturant there really isn’t any point in not going to a chain.

I would say a steak entree is about 18-24 bucks around me at a Chili's or Applebee's or something. I didn't save receipts. Not bad, about as good as you'll get for that item if you're not cooking it yourself.

I play magic for fun with my buddies and we always hit a Chili's after Friday night magic with our pals. There's always one nearby and we have a good time. Good food, good drinks, and priced for plebs like me.

That's largely correct in terms of the difference however the safety of ground beef can be remedied if it's fresh ground and eaten relatively quickly (clarification by fresh ground I mean recently ground up from a whole piece of meat and eaten soon after). Store bought prepackaged ground beef probably shouldn't be eaten raw, but steak tartare can be fine. I also don't think the risk is so high there's any reason to avoid a medium rare burger, though that's up to individual risk evaluation. In any case, red meat tends to be far safer in terms of food poisoning than chicken or as mentioned earlier raw vegetables and peanut butter.
In terms of pregnancy, I've seen the book Expecting Better by Emily Oster recommended who goes over the differences between recommendations by different countries and I think some of the actual science behind the recommendations (or lack thereof).
I haven't read it yet though so I'm not sure of the contents, but I read an article talking about similar topics and the book.
