According to this article, she has never been declared/identified as anything other than a woman. If this is true (very possible considering Algeria has always been TTD), then there's a very real possibility she didn't know until she was tested recently and it must've been one hell of a shock.

You do know that there are DSD that make it so the child appears female at birth right? Then at puberty the balls drop and the grow a penis. It's called 5 alpha reductase deficiency. Basically 5 ARD converts testosterone into DHT which is critical for male sexual differentiation in the womb. The deficiency leads to the child having genitals that appear female until puberty. After puberty they are male. Some are even spontaneously fertile after puberty although most have issues with their sperm leading to them needing to utilize artificial insemination to have children.
Even if this isn't the DSD that this individual has, the only one that I can think of which has XY chromosomes and may be appropriate for them to compete against women would be compete androgen insensitivity.

EDIT to add: This recent review reported that of the countries with large numbers of 5 ARD males, Turkey is country where they are least likely to identify as male after puberty. Since only 2 cases were reported from Algeria in this review Turkey would likely be the best indicator of how Algerias may react as the are both Muslim majority countries.

If it's really true that she's intersex (which at this moment I'm most inclined to believe) rather then tranny then I really feel bad for her especially if she didn't know about her condition until the tests.
