UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I always just call it a "police riot" when it's the cops who deliberately start it. I think they might be wary to do that given the events of the last couple days, though. They might get more "riot" than they want.
Also does not help that the media has for the last several big riots that kicked off absolutely fucked over the plod by reporting and showing that they were the instigators.

And the last thing they currently want is the right wing to be able to show video footage of the plod instagating. Establishment is trying it’s best not to confirm the conspiracy theories ect.

It's like the government forgot that they are dealing with the UK, and that crazy inventions popping up in people's sheds are a regular occurrence.
Reminds me of Luty lol.

In Liverpool the University-educated and trade unionists are protecting the mosque.

Boomers might just be the most cucked generation in history. Zoomers have had "diversity is our strength" breathed into their ear since birth and have never known a high-trust, close knit society unless they live in a rural village of a few 100 people. Boomers have seen this nationwide experiment play out with their own eyes from about the 1% progress point up until now. Boomers might register as "more right wing" on aggregate, but an equal or even larger proportion of them are in favour of the fundamentals of the great social project. They're a generation of Japanese islanders in 1950 thinking the war is still ongoing and can be won.
[Blackpill] I would be very concerned that if the plods we have now decide to stand down they sill start giving truncheons to random migrants and say they're the new police and send them in instead. It's already happening with every other profession. It's the logical conclusion for a failed multicultural state with a corrupt left wing government and a surplus of violent blacks.
At that point there would be absolutely no argument anyone could possibly make against the fact that they are a colonialist occupying army. Nobody would have any restraint based on thoughts of "this officer is a member of my country protecting their community". And most importantly, the reason illegal immigrants are illegal immigrants is that they are so fucking inept that they couldn't even make it over the inch-high bar to immigrate here legally. They have no organisational skills, they don't all speak the same language. It would be an utter disaster for them.

That is my intended response.

I've talked pretty openly about what I do. The worst part is, several people just fucking guessed.

"Is it a bomb"

"It's a bomb factory"

It looks like the BBC's "How the far right organise protests" non-article (answer: random people talk to each other) has finally dropped off the front page. It was their headline article across the global BBC site for almost the entire day. They're afraid of losing control over the minds of normal people.

theirs certain white folk that need to be on the same boat out of Britain
Close universities. Defund universities. End student visas for universities. Knock down concrete universities. Abolish non-STEM student loans. Put student caps on universities. Demolish university accommodation. Shame humanities academics. Deport foreign students in universities.

Everywhere I look, people are talking about it openly and not the woke spokepieces they've been programmed to for so long. Reddit is talking about it, youtube is talking about it and comments are slipping through, even on the most hardcore censored subs. I ventured out briefly for one or two items and heard other shoppers talking about the riots. The cat's out of the bag and everyone's pissed off, there's no stuffing the cat back in without heavy-handed violence and that'll come with it's own share of issues if the powers that be try to force it and I fear they will, so we'll see things go this weekend.
