He could always move to a part of the country that doesn't suck if he wants to never get any shit for being gay. The west coast (and most of the NE) is the closest to one big safe space that you're gonna get. I'm always confused by my fellow LGBT people who have the means to move but live in places terrible for LGBT people. I got the fuck out long ago and surprise, I never have to deal with this stuff.
Although it doesn't even sound like it's terrible. Some nurse was judgey? That's annoying but everyone has to deal with assholes sometimes. He's worried about being fired for being gay? Is this seriously something he thinks is likely to happen in 2016? (And just ask for some days off - why do you have to tell them the reason? Say your family's coming to visit or something.) You have to pretend your boyfriend is your roommate? So what? It's not ideal but is it really the end of the world?

I agree with this for a lot of SA "superstars" actually. I was way into LPs when I was in high school, growing up talking to my friends on AOL and having an LP on in the background for noise--for all the SJW bullshit it is now, it used to be FYAD levels of circlejerkery and in-jokes. Guys like Taxidermistpaste and VollipopMambo were super-famous for making LPs where the joke was that they would sing songs about big ol niggerdicks and make fun of other LPers. 99% of it is gone from the internet now because they would host it on Google Video before Google bought youtube, but over the years there were a few minor squabbles that caused drama, and a bit of hypocrisy from Slowbeef in particular. Mostly because of Slowbeef's moderation style and the sort of subdued undercurrent of his self-importance. He's calmed down now that he has a wife and kid but for a while, it was a lot of that type of "it's my way or the highway" SJW stuff where you try and run anyone you dont like out, by manipulating and leveraging people against each other. It's funny when I make an off-color joke but when you do it it's racist and awful. He seemed like the type of dude who would roll out a red carpet and have it leading up to his computer so that he could rage about "Do you know who I *AM*?!" on the internet.
This is a lot of sperging and powerleveling and I dont really follow it too seriously anymore, but I did kind of grow up alongside that "scene" and have a bunch of weird ass feelings about it.

I liked Proteus and his goofy friend, Suspicious. I watched their Daikatana and Quake 2 LP. They both made good comments but I can't tell if suspicious is autistic or just Canadian.
