In the email from a month ago which was made public, it sounded as if they were imminently going to send off the footage. If they're stonewalling now, the inference is that something changed in the meantime.

It seems kind of obvious from the available tea leaves that what happened is Rekieta or his counsel contacting the county to scuttle the release of the footage.

Nick's comments along the lines of it's up to the county whether they follow the law was very similar to his line that it was up to the state whether to pursue Aaron for sending Geno pictures of Kayla, when it later came out through Keanu that the Rekietas had in fact reported Aaron.

Ultimately, Nick will do everything to prevent the release of the footage, and will consider it a win even if he ends up in jail just so long as we get cucked out of the footage.
