To Answer the question I'd have to be a Vegetarian, I love lot's of vegi dishes but I have yet to find anything that purely vegan that's OK let alone decent.
Piscatarian.
You see that's what pisses me off, about them it shows either level of wilful ignorance that I just cant get along with especially when it comes to larger crustecia or willing duplicity.
I make no secret of this but I trained as a Gamkeeper, and had to learn a fucking awful lot about Game animal Biology, and the falicy that fish don't feel pain is pissing me off, they quote a very old study that was dubious in it's methods to say the least with very little follow up. Fish can feel pain but they don't get it when a hook pierces the mouth (and about 10% of all fish sold commercially are caught this way) and it heals really really quickly. What does harm fish is Dry handeling, when you remove a fish from water and want to return it you need to handle it in a very careful way otherwise you can harm them just lifting them out of the water suspended by the mouth especially larger fish will really harm them as the internal organs can and do get dislocated (they evolved to have support that the air doesn't give them). But there is also the Dry hands issue a lot of anglers hold fish really badly even if they have been fishing for a while. A lot of them hold them in a pinching grip along the latteral line this is the most sensitive parts of most Fish body's, as all true fish are capable of electroception (i.e. sensing electrical distubances) to some degree or other, your try hand's scraping along your most sensitive neverves is what causes a lot of fish to spaz out. A marine Bilogist who I know said for a Bass (european Sea Bass) handeling like that would be like having some one scrape corse dry sandpaper over your bell end / vulva in human terms.
You can fix both of these by using a drop net / landing net and making sure your hands are wet and if you can suspend them with your hand under the belly ideally gripping them by the head so the tail is facing your elbow or at least making sure that the internal organs are supported is key to quick recovery.
I have never heard of De-Winging, it's not something that I have ever seen practiced, if I ever did see that practiced I'd have the same reaction I would of some one debeaking game birds (an Chickens) and that would be to punch them in the mouth.
But seeing as you brought up "Pain an suffering" I'll address it, if the Millitant vegans had there way a lot more pain an suffering would be instore for the worlds animals as we'd have to deforrest every single part of the world and cull every pest to be able to harvest about half of what we need to survive, so more animal deaths would need to happen just out of practical necessity, Veganisim isn't just a nice idea it's completely and totally unfeasible.
If you want to cut down suffering protest Halal and Kosher butchery practices, those animals die a needlessly slow panicked death and encourage diversity in meat, modern slaughterhouse practices (hindered by Kosher an Hallal), and hunting, hunters like myself and every other one I know the world over is willing to take aanimal and deal with it with respect and get really fucking angry when meat goes to waist.
A bit off topic but not really. Have any of you ever heard of those vegetarians that still eat seafood?
Piscatarian.
That doesn't make any sense to me, you are still eating meat, its just coming from an animal of the sea. If I could be a vegetarian that still got to eat seafood though, I would do that in a heartbeat. I live in N.O. and can get the best seafood the world has to offer all day every day, for the most part. Some things are seasonal, naturally, but there is always something good to eat that's in season.
The rationale behind it is that fish don't feel pain, so killing them doesn't "hurt" them, or alternatively killing them isn't as "immoral" as killing birds birds and mammals.

Ethical veganism isn't necessarily about pain and suffering, it's about eliminating the use of animal products period. Even if the bee doesn't suffer (which isn't true, the queen bee is often de-winged or clipped to prevent migration) the idea is that the honey belongs to the bees, not people.
