General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

That being said I do at the back of my mind expect to see a similar situation occur down the line with Shion like if I had to put a bet on which old member would be likely to hang it up next it would 1000% be her.
Marine talked about Aqua's situation and also mentioned Shion. She assures chat that Shion is still here and she will/might be back one day.
Shion also tweeted the first time in months

I might as well post a TL of Aqua vague announcement at the end of her last stream. I guess the way she talked about it was meant to be chuuni.

What is interesting in all of this is that now every gen after 0 until 6 has had at least one graduation, and all those 5 gens are now 4 person groups. Honestly, I could see Laplus going as well to keep the trend alive. It's just an interesting coincidence.

It really does seem to me that an extreme introvert like Aqua just doesn't mesh with the more public and performance direction Hololive is going. Gamer maid just wants to game. It will be real interesting if she shows up again. I'm trying to remember if she ever was a fleshtuber. I really do miss the old dox site, both as an information repository and a containment daycare for schizos.

I think unfortunately, this just is a bad look even after looking at everything.

Her saying that it's because of a "change in direction with the company" just plants a lot of poisonous seeds that will only grow as time goes on.

If I'm correct as I was before, I think more of the Old guard is going to follow her eventually since most of these ladies are pushing their 40s by now and going all in on the idol stuff just isn't going to be feasible after a while.

At that point all you really have is the shark to your name but who knows for how long given how infrequent her streams already are along with sort of lamenting not being able to see her family.

The only thing they can really do right now is gave you a bunch of new talents the sort of numb the pain, but new faces don't hold that nostalgic value.

BILLIONS MUST WOOPYO
Lottie should be finishing Banjo Kazooie today.

Missed this a few days ago but looks like we can continue the tradition of watching The Thing muliple times a year, this time with the Bawston Frog.

Otachan is back again.

It's good to see she's doing great.

Been following her for a while and wondered why I haven't seen aria in awhile
She? I'm pretty sure Parororo is a man. In fact I think he's married to this woman:

Also you can find his more recent Aria comics here, though I think he's been taking a break lately:

Nyaru's face is... something
Guess the idea that women are vtubers because they are too ugly for face came continues to be correct. Is Kson the only good looking vtuber?
Someone hasn't seen Panko's face dox:

I think that's really an overly pessimistic view of it all Many of the old guard from gens 0-2 are, and have always been very on board with the idol shift the company took as it went on. And most if not all of the people who joined from Gen 3 onward joined already knowing that.

There's a couple people from like Gen 2 mostly that I could see possibly walking away like Shion, Choco, or Matsuri but in a lot of ways their activity has been flagging for quite a while now and it wouldn't be like Aqua leaving was what suddenly planted some seed for them to leave.

From Gen 3 onward those that joined largely knew exactly what it was they were signing up to do in holo so the "shift in direction" isn't really relevant. And yeah new hires don't replace "old nostalgia" right away but it doesn't take long before "new faces" become the old faces.

Holomyth has been around for longer today. Than Sora had been at the time Myth Debuted. As time goes on what people consider the "old guard" grows, and as long as they aren't bleeding talents faster than they are taking them on (and as long as they aren't machine gunning debuts niji style) then the gradual graduation of old talent is just the natural course of things.

I've seen a bunch of people say that Hololive made a shift to idol stuff but it was always called "Hololive: Idol Corp." Also Sora joined with the ambition of being a singer. Nijisanji made shifts to being more idol-like to get in on the money Hololive was making from big events but Hololive always seemed that way.

Also I think you got it right on people leaving, this job isn't forever. The vtuber models allow them to keep going longer than most idols would but I don't see this stuff going longer than 10 years per talent. Idols get shuffled out with new younger talent as time goes on.

Well I mean we have the word of the talents themselves to say that clearly the perception wasn't always there or as as strong. Subaru and Mio have both talked about that with Mio even saying IIRC that she was told outright in her interview that they were not an Idol agency. It seems like while yeah, Sora, and some others like Miko and Mio were a lot more music focused for the longest time they were the exception and not the rule and even Mio and Miko (from the clips I'm aware of) didn't consider themselves part of an idol group until later in Gen 2 leading up to gen 3 before there it seems like to many in the company and outside that the "idol" trappings of the company were more tongue in cheek or just not serious, until Shiny Smiley Story happened and then it became more serious.
