I feel about the same way, but I wonder if it's mainly because it's music aimed at a younger crowd and not something that I am going to connect with at this point in my life. Although I can admit that some of her songs are catchy or understand why people might latch on to them, I don't think anything that I've heard from her is really great or will stand the test of time like some of the music from 80's or 90's will. I'd much rather have Cyndi Lauper, Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Liz Phair, Bonnie Tyler, or any number of other women who produced something that even people two decades from now will still resonate with. Even if you want to look at some artists more contemporary with Swift, someone like Neko Case just blows her completely out of the water.

You have to remember that the top songs of any given year aren't well remembered a decade later. Go look at the Billboard Hot 100 for any given year. For any song that makes you think "great" or "good" you are going to have at least one song that your think "catchy, but cheesy" and one song that make you think "literally what is this?"

There's a ton of female artists that I adore (like many of the ones you mentioned, especially Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks). I listened to them as a teenager and I still listen to them today.

Hell, one of my 80's Queens is Pat Benatar. I danced and sang along loudly to "Love is a Battlefield" like it was the most dramatic and epic song ever as a teenager, and to this day that song still gives me a giddy shot of energy and I still want to dance along to it without a care in the world. lol. Pat Benatar's voice is so criminally underrated. Total powerhouse.

Good music is good music, and good music stands the test of time.
