EDIT: The trial is televised (which seems unusual to me). Having just watched a clip, it seems the carrying of the bat was six months which will be served concurrently with the 32months which is "violent disorder" which appears to be being present in the group so far as I can tell.

Idk if this is what youre hinting at but that's a reaction for the labour party (Probably the local labour party, not labour HQ), not a reaction from law enforcement. He'll likely be charged to try and quell the "two tier policing" "conspiracy theory" in the next few weeks, and likely receive a minimal sentence. Probably just a suspended sentence and community service, as there's no prison places.

He probably shouldnt have pled guilty so early. Much better to gum up the system and force the state to expend resources trying to lock up pensioners than fold and allow them to expedite it.
