Just looked at the Anna O'Brien thread and there was a conversation about people with EDS looking younger than they are.
A few days ago I saw a reel on instagram with a girl who claimed she looks years younger than her twin. It was quite hilarious because if anything, she looked older. I sadly wasn't able to find it again, maybe someone else saved it?
Instead I found an amazing quora thread. Sorry, don't know how to archive quora and that it's a very easy target.
Is there a single person on the internet who claims hEDS whose supposed symptoms line up with the actual diagnosis?

Sorry if I'm dumb but wouldn't a connective tissue disorder cause more cellulite and stretch marks? Maybe I'm confusing it with Marfan but aren't excessive stretch marks kind of part of the illness?

I feel like a lot of the munchie misconceptions go back to one or two accounts who started propagating them (Like how fake MCAS goes back to Chayenne). Does anyone know who started this "makes you look 12" madnes? Or are they really all just so dumb, that they think soft skin = baby?

Out of curiosity would one of you beautiful, valid, absolutely stunning, farmers be generous enough to bring the Dani tea over here? I've now seen 2 different people (one not even in this thread) mention Dani being a mess but never actually stating why or linking anything.

Dani is a very hot mess indeed, but she's hit the end of her muching train (but doesn't realize it yet, unsurprisingly). She's got her own dedicated subreddit, which you can find here. The gorls there do a good job of catching her content and, blessedly, they generally provide either summaries or transcriptions for her TikTok videos.

In short: her local team confronted her about the munching. They also won't place the type of chest port she wants; she's got a femoral line (crotch port), but she can't access that herself. She wants a port she can access herself, since that's how she gives herself infections and obtains hospital attention. Her local team won't give her the type of central line she wants, won't give her TPN, and they revoked her standing orders for fluids (or didn't renew them-- not sure of correct terminology here). She still has the feeding tube, but she also still claims that she can't tolerate feeds. She drains with it but is still obviously getting a more-than-adequate intake.

Additionally, she has to have a sitter in all hospital stays now. They know that she eats and drinks by mouth, and they know that she drains. The sitter is there to make sure those things don't happen. It's been clear (to everyone but Dani) that her local hospital system(s) were onto her and that they were scrupulously documenting all her behaviors.

She may have an official diagnosis of FD (Factitious Disorder). We know that her team has brought it up to her, but it's not completely clear if it's actually in her chart or not. Dani is dumb and lies a lot, as we all know.

What's going on now is that she self-referred to Mayo in Rochester, MN. Of note: Mayo uses EPIC, and her local hospital systems use the same software. Therefore, Mayo has access to her local medical notes. She does have a blocked SVC, and Mayo agreed to see her for that very narrow and specific issue-- to see if they could unblock it. She had two (I think?) appointments scheduled and one appointment to get her blood drawn, but she was originally saying she'd probably have to stay a month. She absolutely thought that she was going to start afresh with her antics and that Mayo would enable all this nonsense.

Things get confusing toward the end of her Mayo visit, and it's not totally clear what the timeline is. She wasn't in a good mood all along, and it was clear that she wasn't happy with the way her appointments were going. On Monday, she revealed that she'd been messaging the doc who would've been the one to unblock the SVC-- messaging through the patient portal all weekend. In writing, via the portal, that doctor told her that she would provide no procedures or treatments, and she also said she would not refer Dani to anyone else at Mayo.

The "in writing" part is significant, because it appears that Mayo saw she was a possible candidate to unblock the SVC but then reviewed her records, only to find her entire history of medical shenanigans-- which includes the documented refusal to give her TPN, which is the only reason she'd need that type of central line to begin with. She has a perfectly good crotch port, but you apparently can't use that for TPN, and it's TPN that Dani wants.

Again, though, the timeline of events isn't totally clear. We don't know if the doctor initially said she might do the surgery and then perhaps looked at Dani's records or contacted her local team to confirm that someone local to Dani would prescribe TPN and assume responsibility for line care. Or maybe Dani just thought that she could wear the doctor down over the weekend with the portal messages, and then she was so obnoxious that she managed to get herself formally blacklisted at Mayo.

Any number of things (or, more likely, a combination of things) could have happened, but it's abundantly clear that Dani got booted from Mayo and took an epic L.

We also don't know if she'll get struck off by her local doctors when/if they find out that she attempted to go behind their backs and get a new port. Though the self-referral was ostensibly only for getting the blocked SVC taken care of, Dani made it abundantly clear in her TikTok lives that she ended to get a new port out of her anticipated month-long stay.

I think that brings us up to date. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a signature Dani DFE in our near future.

Half the time reading through those posts, I'm thinking "then why the fuck are you at a theme park?" Because a lot of those issues would completely stop you from being able to even get on a ride. Theres signs all over the place stating if you have heart issues, an injury, etc, don't get on.

Here's garry. He's got probably the stretchiest skin in the world due to eds and because of it, he doesn't get wrinkles. Don't get me wrong, he's an ugly mofo but for mid 50s his skin is looking decent.

While this is an extreme case of eds (and he for some reason doesn't have a lot of medical issues), keep this in mind when these munchie girls pinch their skin and claim extreme elasticity

I actually used to know someone who had skin a bit like this. It was the first time I’d heard of EDS. She could pull the skin in her neck away like this. Was really weird to see.
Unlike our munchies, she kept herself as fit as she could and was an active hiker.

Oh she definitely did have it, she had a heart and aorta scan yearly so I’m guessing it was a more severe form? Kept herself as fit as she could, because the alternative was pain and loss of mobility. Had a fairly high powered job too. The opposite of our munchie queens. I lost touch with her about ten years ago, I hope she’s still healthy.

I know a few people who genuinely have some serious condition or other and are a bit in love with it and with the idea of their own fragility, but for the most part, 90% of people I know like that are utterly determined to live life as fully and healthily as they can and you'd never know they have x or y condition unless it came up in conversation.

The difference between that 90% and the fwagile sick gorl munchie crowd, who generally don't have anything except a raging cluster B personality and a bad case of histrionics, never cease to amaze me.

I too hope your friend is doing well, and that she doesn't get her life and treatment paths messed up by the amount of fake EDS claimers out there muddying the waters. Speaking of; does anybody know how that hEDS gene study turned out? I remember us speculating ages ago that the munch bunch would absolutely screw up the results by putting themselves in for it, but I can't remember who was running it or where to look up if that actually happened or not.

I went to high school with someone who had the vascular type of EDS. Her colon spontaneously ruptured in high school. She recovered and went on to become a physician.

The really strange part is that looking back, she was cut from the same cloth as the "hEDS" munchies and used her diagnosis to prove that she totally didn't have an eating disorder, which she totally had. At the time her colon exploded, she was running a truly insane number of miles every day, while proudly explaining that her doctor had instructed her to stop running.

I'm wondering how professionals feel about the Ehlers Danlos Society these days. I know it's not all the organization's fault that their cause has been co-opted by munchies, but their social media accounts are overrun with young women claiming to have hEDS. When I still worked on the clinical lab, the rheumatologists affiliated with the hospital system had stopped accepting new patients under 25 with benign joint hypermobility, so I think they've noticed a trend, but from what I see online, the revision to the hEDS diagnostic criteria hasn't deterred any of these girls.

Lilcannoli was crossing her healthy legs in a motorized wheelchair, with all the uwu accessories and ofc her gold retriever service dog. Browsing her profile I see it’s NSFW and she’s got tubes! Sexy feeding tube selfies from her motorized chair, random posts about all her uwu plushies and selfies of her “low blood pressure” attacks with dog.

I’m just curious if it’s become so normal that even this chick a, A FTMTF NSFW munchie with wheelchair, service dog and tubes wouldn’t even get a mention. Are they are just this common in the wild now?

Holy shit, that's a very familiar face! It's Shelby/Julian Gavino (aka The Disabled Hippie), who seems to still be going by 'Julian' on her insta but is now using she/her-nouns again. Wasn't entirely sure until I cross-checked with her insta, but it's the same damn dog with the same damn 'do not pet' lead and the tattoos all match up.

Yes, she has been discussed here many a time, and for good reason. I'm really glad she's detransed and accepted her true lezza self, even if she's still munching... She looks a lot better without the shitty pube beard and doesn't seem to be modelling professionally anymore.
