It's that he was extremely charismatic. He could say the same things every other politician did, say nonsense, or literally admit to be Dick Cheney's cousin and it didn't matter he said it in a way that made people like him. Even if you don't like him you can tell he's charismatic.

I thought he was Bush's cousin?

You also have to remember we just became super accepting of gays around that time to so it was a whole new era.

You didn't have to vote for one though.

It's a "lower end" supermarket. They almost went down in the 2000s.

Yeah, that's the appeal of them here. They're cheap.

Her State being a large landmass with extremely low population doesn't mean she isn't retarded. I recall listening to her speak at length and came to the conclusion, "Yeah this bitch is dumb".
I'm curious: what did Palin say or do that make you think she was dumb?

Enough reminiscing about Obama, let's watch some footage of Tim Walz using the National Guard in May, 2020, to enforce a COVID curfew on citizens doing nothing, instead of going downtown and stopping the Floyd riots. Here we see them shooting people with paintball guns for absolutely no reason at all except that they were outside on their porches:
"The Nasty Girls are heckin baste they won't shoot at fellow Patriotic Americans!™️"

While we're at it, how about the Guard illegaly confiscating guns after Katrina?

Another crown jewel of leftism - the "co-op". I went into one once when I was too lazy to go further down the street to HEB.
It was a dump, there was only one register open while everyone else pretended to be busy, the food was overpriced, and they didn't even offer bags.

Not surprised they almost went down.

Yeah, Co-Op have got relatively expensive with some things. It's weird. They used to be the cheap brand-named local shop.

This is what I'm getting at: Tina Fey's performance of Sarah Palin attributed quotes to Palin which she never uttered. The media smear campaign of Palin was absolute and decisive.
Women, White Women, and Middle Aged Women are all Democrat owned demographics and she violated the rules by stepping out of the Cathedral. Of course they destroyed her. A trans black republican woman would similarly be destroyed utterly.

Tina Fey said she could see Russia from her house and most people thought that was Palin.
I still get into arguments with people over that.

These people still actually believe that it was Sarah Palin who said that.

What Sarah Palin actually said was something to the effect of: "As Governor of Alaska, I have a unique set of responsibilities compared to other governors since Alaska is close to Russia. Alaska is so close to Russia, in fact, that there are parts of Alaska where you can see parts of Russia from."

But yeah, sure ... "I cAn SeE rUsSiA fRoM mY hOuSe!" Totally the same thing.

(Can't you tell that I'm still incredibly salty by how Sarah Palin was treated by the media and how it obviously damaged her family?)

"Factcheckers" are rating this false because "er it was TECHNICULLY because of the riots, not covid" but as I understand it, Walz used the "emergency" status from covid to pull it off, while the riots also were going on (in a different part of town) at the same time.
I know that the horse semen thing is a troll ... But I can't think of a better insult for a vile person like this. "Horse Guzzler" is a name that Walz has rightfully earned.

Palin was worse: she actually threatened Democrat hold on white women. Democratic strategists at the time were scared to death of her because she polled well.

Please

Go on about Kent state. Unleash the sperging
Basically: the National Guard shouldn't have opened fire, but people never bring up the lead-up to Kent State or bring up why the National Guard got mobilized in the first place. A bunch of students started a fucking riot at a local bar that resulted in a whole neighborhood getting trashed, complete with police cars getting torched. Then when the locals got pissed and pledged to respond with force, the city's police station, the local ROTC depot, the local Army recruiting station, and the local post office were all threatened with attacks and bombings. The fact that an Army installation with guns, ammo, and other materiel were explicitly threatened is what got the NG called in.

Kent State was not some hippy-dippy sit-in where a bunch of peaceniks got iced. SDS organized fucking riots and made bomb threats. The NG were told that they might get attacked by radicals armed with weapons. Again: they shouldn't have opened fire on the students, who were by all accounts very far away, but there is a reason they were there and there was a reason they were on edge.

Also, after the shootings, the locals explicitly said "fuck 'em" and thought it was a natural consequence of bad behaviour by protestors and agitators.
Even your version is still cucked. Antifa didn’t just threaten to bomb buildings, they actually did firebomb them:
Information developed by an FBI investigation of the ROTC building fire indicates that, of those who participated actively, a significant portion weren't Kent State students. There is also evidence to suggest that the burning was planned beforehand: railroad flares, a machete, and ice picks are not customarily carried to peaceful rallies.
The guard was also being chased by antifa and were actively pelted by rocks at the time they opened fire:
Some students who had retreated beyond the practice field fence obtained rocks and possibly other objects with which they again began pelting the guardsmen. The number of rock throwers is unknown, with estimates of 10–50 throwers. According to an FBI assessment, rock-throwing peaked at this point. Tear gas was again fired at crowds at multiple locations.

Just before departing the practice field, some members of Troop G were ordered to kneel and aim their weapons toward the parking lot. The troop did so, but none of them fired. At the same time, one person (likely an officer) fired a handgun into the air. The Guard was then ordered to regroup and move up the hill past Taylor Hall. Protesters began following the Guard as it retraced its steps up the hill. Some guardsmen claim to have been struck by rocks as they retreated up the hill. The crowd on top of the hill parted to allow the guardsmen to pass through. After reaching the crest of Taylor Hall, the Guard fired at the protesters following them.

All of this is on Wikipedia. It’s just not taught in schools, where the preferred source about the riot is the dumb Neil Young propaganda song.

The hype surrounding Obama provided my first real evidence that people within my age cohort were not suitable to make important political decisions at the time. I knew so many people who were new to voting during his first election term, who had previously expressed sensible views on government fuckery and the need for balanced leadership, who threw all that out the window to bark HOPE AND CHANGEEE like dipshits.
There’s obviously no excuse for still supporting Obama these days, but a lot of us Millennials came of age into Bush’s forever wars and only remembered our formative years during the Clinton era as being a whole lot better. Add in the fact that the online discourse was “Bush’s warmongering cabinet got started in the Reagan administration plus Ronnie shipped all the jobs overseas” (objectively true, but omits NAFTA, the 70s, etc) - it’s no surprise that so many of us fell for the hope and change rhetoric, especially when the alternative was fucking McCain.
A vote for 2008 Obama was supposed to be a vote to stop the wars, fix the domestic economy, and prove that racism was dead. Instead we got war expansion, a stagnant recovery where bankers were given free money to buy up everything and kill even more jobs, and the resurrection of overt racial conflict. It’s unfair to expect a bunch of 18-20 year olds who grew up in the Good Times to cynically reject 2008 Obama’s platform as “actually, he’s planning on doing exactly the opposite so vote for Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran McCain or abstain”.

No such excuse exists for the current crop of Kamala supporters, of course. Trump is the undisputed peace and economy candidate so Kamala’s gals are strictly voting on vibes, abortions, and gay illegal immigrants.

I am still upset about this and I am ashamed for swallowing this propaganda hook, line, and sinker back in 2008.

I admit that my version is shortened and I omit some details just because there are so fucking many. My only concession is that, when the actual shooting happened, it looks like the National Guard blew their load prematurely and killed people not even involved in the protest. However, with the backdrop of the riots that went on prior, what happened makes some sense.

Palin was an idiot in a similar vein to Harris. I don't remember anyone being excited about her as a VP candidate. Right now the left can't lampoon Kamala, but once she loses there's going to be a lot of finger pointing and the ballwashers aren't going to want those fingers pointed at them so they'll throw her under the bus.
