Another crown jewel of leftism - the "co-op". I went into one once when I was too lazy to go further down the street to HEB.
It was a dump, there was only one register open while everyone else pretended to be busy, the food was overpriced, and they didn't even offer bags.

Not surprised they almost went down.
Winco would eat Aldi's lunch at the price, items, and checkout line queue.

Palin was worse: she actually threatened Democrat hold on white women. Democratic strategists at the time were scared to death of her because she polled well.
She had the highest approval rating of any Governor at the time. Fun fact.

And the polls swung heavily in the McCain campaign's favor once she was announced as the running mate.

But the media did its thing, and the McCain campaign happily threw her to the wolves. McCain never had any intentions of winning that election; I'm convinced of it. I think they were shocked by the positive response over Palin at first.

It's just sad how she ended her political career. After the 2008 election, the Democrats went after her by suing her over every single fucking thing, and so she got bullied hard enough into resigning because it was all literally preventing her from doing her job.

(Gee, where have we seen this weaponization of lawfare lately?)

The things that the media did to that poor woman's family are truly despicable. These are the same people who give Trump shit for being a sexist. Absolute scum, these people.

Palin was an idiot in a similar vein to Harris. I don't remember anyone being excited about her as a VP candidate.
I went to a rally for her and McCain in 2008. Packed house, and everybody there was more excited for Palin than McCain. Loads of people who otherwise would have stayed home who came out to see her, in a fairly blue part of Ohio.

For real.

The way the media has treated Trump has been unforgivable ... But this kind of shit totally started with Palin.

Remember the story where a journalist literally rented a house next door to the Palins? He was caught taking pictures of Palin's kids playing in the back yard, too. Immediately got memoryholed by the MSM, of course.

Once again proving excitement don't always mean better result.
To be fair people usually vote for a presidential candidate and not his VP pick first and foremost and in 2008, McCain was smashed into the ground by media constantly praising and hailing Obama as this great savior coming to the White House to "change" everything. It didn't help that by comparison to his competition, McCain just wasn't an energetic politician in general.

Black women are the most dependable demographic for Democrats, yet they only make up 7.7% of the US population. Stuff like this is why you see Democrats promise everything to black women specifically, even if it means alienating other women in the process. I get that people have their issues with white women, but they’re much less of a hivemind by comparison.

Here's my 2008 redux stuff:

Yes, Obama was charismatic and a good speaker. The Republican attack at the time was comparing him to a celebrity and saying he couldn't do it without a teleprompter, but he very obviously could do it with one. Jeremiah Wright didn't sink him because he talked his way out of it. I also think even off teleprompter he was very good. Saying "uhh" and "Like" or whatever is how humans talk. He is capable of giving a press conference and talking with journalists. He could sit down with someone like Elon Musk. Like Trump, it wouldn't be perfect, but that doesn't mean he is a rambling disaster, it just means he's human. Harris and Biden can't rise to that level anymore. They are completely full of shit. Pure hollowed out pod people because they know they can no longer defend their record or stuff like the woke agenda. Biden and Harris have no idea how to explain all the transgender shit, only how to call people who disagree with what they can't explain bigots.

Palin was a decent Governor who was insufficiently vetted, poorly prepared, and pulled up to the majors too soon. That's on McCain, and the election being an uphill battle for Republicans in general was also largely on Bush's failures.

She needed time to settle her family issues and familiarize herself with the national political stage. Not being prepared made her be neurotic. Being unable to just name a newspaper wasn't being an ignorant hillbilly, she was afraid the question was some sort of trap so she wouldn't commit. (and she was RIGHT to be paranoid, they were out to get her!) And also, it was already the internet age, people WERE reading little bits from here or there instead of one specific paper. Journos destroyed her over stuff like that. Fey's portrayal of her was so popular because it leveraged the folksy charm and charisma that was there for real. She could have been something on the national stage, but she should have made a stop-off in the House or Senate first.

@FrancineCansMcGee

I’d argue that Obama had a friendly press that would outright call truths falsehoods for him. He didn’t need to really talk about controversy, if he side stepped it the press was ready to ignore it or make excuses for him.

His charisma was a media fabrication. It was like how you had people saying he was a great athlete then he looks like a faggot riding horses, playing basketball (with air balls), and jogging with limp wrists. His air of charisma was gossamer.

Enough reminiscing about Obama, let's watch some footage of Tim Walz using the National Guard in May, 2020, to enforce a COVID curfew on citizens doing nothing, instead of going downtown and stopping the Floyd riots. Here we see them shooting people with paintball guns for absolutely no reason at all except that they were outside on their porches:

"Factcheckers" are rating this false because "er it was TECHNICULLY because of the riots, not covid" but as I understand it, Walz used the "emergency" status from covid to pull it off, while the riots also were going on (in a different part of town) at the same time.
What in the name of Hell is this? How have I not seen this before, this is completely outrageous.
