The only strong part of Rekieta's motion is the citation of Rule 4.02(d)(v); I'm virtually certain there will be no stream of the Omnibus Hearing next week or of any other pre-trial hearings. If Rekieta doesn't plea out, I'd wager the judge will allow the trial itself to be broadcast subject to obvious restrictions (no broadcasting the testimony of kids if they're called, no filming the jurors, no filming during recesses etc.) I'm guessing Rekieta thinks this will be dismissed before it reaches trial or that he will be able to negotiate a very lenient plea deal.

But again, that begs the bigger question I posted earlier. Why request this at all if he is accepting a plea deal? If he's accepting a plea deal, which would be public anyway, who cares if it's recorded or not? Why would his kids have to take the stand at all if he's getting a plea deal? If he's going to be in and out in 20 minutes, why try to stop recordings?

Unless he didn't get a plea deal. But wouldn't that be strange? Kayla gets a plea deal and he didn't? Or did he get a plea deal and he doesn't plan on taking it?
